You think playing a great character on this great character is GREAT!!?? No.....not really.Too many greats and not enough WTH? Despite being made by Activision (heh), controls are bloody sloppy, and what' s with the movie pluggin? I recall EGM gave it very low scores and rightfully so. Even some of the FMV is dowright weird NOTE- Game is based on the animated X-men series on FOX at the time (well, least some of the voice actors are there) NOTE-I'll be putting up some of the unlockables later

Subscribe for great justice! ► http://bit.ly/LJNDefender X-Men Apocalypse is almost here, so it's time to take a look at some #X-Men video games! The X-Men made their video game debut in the 1989 LJN NES release and they most famously took arcades by storm with the 1992 Konami beat 'em up, but I'm saving those for a different video. Instead, I'm going to focus on six lesser known X-Men titles in this Cygnus Destroyer multi-game review extravaganza. Thanks for watching:) If this is your first experience with my videos, you should check out my three shows. Cygnus Destroyer's Reviews cover anything and everything in retro and modern gaming, The LJN Defender sticks up for the games that were published by the "rainbow of doom", and Innocent Until Proven Guilty gives a fair trial/review to games that have been critically bashed. A playthrough of Capcom's 1998 versus-fighting game for the Sony PlayStation, X-Men vs. Street Fighter. Played through on the four-star difficulty level with Sabretooth as the primary fighter and Juggernaut as the supporting attack character. I played this back when it first came out on the PlayStation, and at the time I loved it. Not being familiar with the arcade or the Saturn versions, I didn't see anything wrong with it. It was fast-moving, it was colorful, and it felt like Street Fighter. What more could you ask for? Well, in the years following, I came to understand why this port was panned so badly. It's a hideous butchering of the arcade game, but if you take it on its own and can avoid comparing it to the Saturn port or the arcade original, it's a just another cartoony, bombastic, classically-styled Capcom fighter. It's quite good when you look it at it through that lens. However, those other versions are widely available and easy to find and play these days. And when you play them and then come back to this one, you suddenly realize all of the compromises that were made in bringing this to the PS1. The limited RAM in the PlayStation and it's limited sprite-processing abilities resulted in, like so many late 90s Capcom 2D fighters ported from the CPS2 arcade hardware, the cutting of important gameplay features and a good deal of the animation. It also had some pretty brutal load times. The tag-team feature is completely gone - your secondary character's role is now limited to a single assist move that brings him or her on-screen for a couple of seconds, whereas in the other versions you can swap between the characters on the fly. The character animations, especially on the larger character sprites, has been hit pretty badly - many of the characters now have about half of their original frames of animation. And even with these compromises, the game still slows to a crawl when too many things are flying across the screen at once! Still, like I said, if you don't compare it to the other versions, this still plays like a good old 2D Capcom fighter, and is still quite enjoyable as it is. If you insist on an arcade-accurate experience, though, you'd do better to pass on this. The Sega Saturn port is the only one that managed to do justice to the coin-op original. _ No cheats were used during the recording of this video. X-MEN VS STREET FIGHTER (ARCADE CPS2) 1CC - RYU and AKUMA TEAM PLAYTHROUGH (FULL GAMEPLAY). X-Men vs. Street Fighter is a fighting game originally released as a coin-operated arcade game in 1996. It is Capcom's third fighting game to feature Marvel Comics characters and the first game to match them against their own, with characters from Marvel's X-Men franchise being matched against the cast from the Street Fighter series. It was the first game to blend a tag team style of combat with the Street Fighter gameplay, as well as incorporating elements from Capcom's previous Marvel-themed fighting games, X-Men: Children of the Atom and Marvel Super Heroes. It was ported to the Sega Saturn in 1997 and PlayStation in 1998. However, the tag team feature was omitted from the PlayStation version due to memory limitations. PLOT: During his travels, Ryu crosses paths with Cyclops and the X-Men, who show interest in Ryu's power. When Apocalypse appears, stronger than ever before, Ryu's friends and the X-Men band together to combat Apocalypse, some for the purpose of saving the world, and some for their own evil agendas. X-Men vs. Street Fighter uses a system similar to the style developed in Marvel Super Heroes, and adds the tag team gameplay feature. Instead of the usual best-two-out-of-three round format, the game's matches consist of two-on-two battles between tag teams. The player controls one character at a time, while the other awaits off-screen. The starting character can tag the waiting one in at any time by hitting the Hard Punch and Hard Kick buttons, which activates the "Variable Attack"; the tag partner will jump in with an attack and taunt briefly. During their taunt, they are vulnerable to counterattack. The dormant character will able to recover a portion of their vitality, while the current character is fighting. If one character loses all of their vitality, then the tag partner will automatically come to play. A match is over when both members of a team are defeated or if the timer on the match clock reaches zero. There are other ways to bring the character's partner in; the "Variable Counter", which replaces the Infinity Counter of Marvel Super Heroes, breaks the player's guard to bring the teammate in with a counterattack at the cost of a level of super meter. Also, the "Variable Combination" is a two-character Hyper Combo (the super moves featured in the game) which costs two levels, and will switch the player's current character as long as neither character gets hit during their Hyper Combos. The X-Men characters come largely unchanged from X-Men: Children of the Atom and Marvel Super Heroes, and three characters new to the series are introduced in the form of Rogue, Gambit and Sabretooth. The Street Fighter characters use their Street Fighter Alpha 2 forms and their special moves were given upgrades to match the larger-than-life atmosphere of the Marvel games (for example, Ryu's Hadouken is much larger than it is in other games). This game marks the first appearance of "Shadaloo" depiction of Cammy, who would reappear in the console versions of Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold, as well as in Street Fighter Alpha 3.

A longplay of X-Men vs Street Fighter. X-Men vs. Street Fighter is a crossover fighting video game developed and published by Capcom. It is Capcom's third fighting game to feature Marvel Comics characters, following X-Men: Children of the Atom and Marvel Super Heroes, and the first installment in the Marvel vs. Capcom series. As the title suggests, the game includes characters from Marvel's X-Men franchise and the cast from Capcom's Street Fighter series. Originally released as a coin-operated arcade game in 1996, it was eventually ported to the Sega Saturn in 1997 and the PlayStation in 1998. X-Men vs. Street Fighter features gameplay similar to Street Fighter, but incorporates dual-character selection and tag team-based combat. Each player selects two characters to compete in a one-on-one battle, attempting to defeat the opposing team. The players are given the ability to switch between their characters at any point during the match. The game also incorporates numerous elements from X-Men: Children of the Atom and Marvel Super Heroes. The game was released to generally positive reviews, with critics praising its gameplay and sprite animation quality. While the Sega Saturn port received praise for maintaining the experience of the original arcade version, the PlayStation port was met with mixed to negative critical reception for removing several features, such as tag team battles. The changes were done in response to the technical limitations of the PlayStation. A sequel to the game, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, was released in 1997.

Cyclops is one the characters that debuted in this game who's notable for having a high level of skill in later games, such as in X-Men vs. Street Fighter, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2. His Optic Blast is the best projectile in the game. It instantly travels across the screen, and it can go straight through other projectiles. His Gene Splice is also probably the best Shoryuken that I've seen. One X-Combo lets him use an Optic Blast that he can aim while blasting. He has another one that that can cover a lot of range in front of him. In his ending, Magneto questions why Cyclops continues to fight for Professor X's dream of peace between humans and mutants. Cyclops believes that the dream will never die, so Magneto blasts him away for his resistance towards him. Cyclops was able to meet up with the rest of his team, and together, they escaped the exploding Avalon. Cyclops firmly believes that Magneto has survived its destruction. Back on Earth, in the Danger Room, Scott Summer reunites with his sweetheart, Jean Grey. She was quite worried about him. Iceman gets disgusted by the romance between then. Colossus then appears to inform Cyclops that Omega Red was spotted harassing police units. So, as the leader of the X-Men, Cyclops summons his team and heads out.

A playthrough of Acclaim's 1998 PlayStation versus fighter arcade port, X-Men: Children of the Atom. Played through as Wolverine on the level 6 (of 8) difficulty level. I set the game to one round per fight - it's an insanely difficult game, and it's easier to focus the whole game the way I needed to only having to do each fight once. When the credits end and the game restarts, I play again, this time inputting the code for Akuma (also played on level 6). It's amazing how much easier playing as Akuma makes the game! :) This is almost up there with Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo in how hardcore it demands you to be to beat it. Unfortunately, this doesn't give you any special endings for the difficulty level - the ending on level 8 is exactly the same as it is on level 4. Boo. On a side note, the PS1 version is on the surface a pretty good showing, but it doesn't take long to see the cracks. It's pretty much a hot mess if you want accuracy with the arcade original. A lot of the timings are different, tons of frames of animation are missing (and hit boxes aren't really that consistent), and it slows down pretty badly when a lot of stuff is going on at once. An old friend of mine had the Saturn version at the time and I remember it looking much better than this does. I also had the (1997?) PC port, which I remember being pretty close to arcade perfect, even though it was weird on the PC running at the arcade game's native resolution from DOS - there weren't many DOS games coming out anymore by the time this was released. Anyways, it's a fantastic Capcom fighter that got fairly heavily molested in the transition to the PlayStation, but it remains intact enough to be a solid bit of fun. ...just ignore how lazy it looks with its badly compressed (recorded from the arcade machine) cinematics. Would it have really been that hard to render those in-engine like the arcade and PC versions did? It looks really tacky. ____ No cheats were used during the recording of this video. Hulk: 0:14 Shuma-Gorath: 1:32 Spider-Man: 3:06 Magneto: 5:01 Captain America: 6:13 Blackheart: 7:50 Dr. Doom: 10:02 Thanos: 11:40 Wolverine's Ending: 13:29 Recorded with Final Alpha Burn and converted with Sony Vegas. I've actually been trying to record this video for a long time, but I ran into a bunch of strange desyncing issues with this game that I've never encountered in Children of the Atom. I then needed to summon more effort by separating the whole video into different parts, both internally and externally. Once I got all the correct parts I made internally, I can record them externally and then put them all back together with Sony Vegas. -------------- This game's version of Wolverine is more familiar to me than CotA's. His Berserker Barrage is now a special move, and his new super move is an upgraded version called Berserker Barrage X. He also gained another super move called Weapon X. His Gem specialty is Power. It creates two afterimages of himself behind him, and one after another, they can each land a hit. They don't seem to work with all of his moves, though, especially with the recoiling involved. To summarize Wolverine's ending, Logan just seeks more answers to his past, having the mutant powers comparable to being a savage beast. He prefers just to be a man rather than the god he could've been with the completed Infinity Gauntlet, since being a man is tough for him, already. In order to get info about Stryker's Island location Logan chases Gambit (Remy LeBeau) to the rooftop of New Orleans Corbeau Casino fighting four-hand assassins of obscure origin and Stryker's men along the way... Gambit (Remy LeBeau) is a mutant with the ability to take the potential energy stored in an object and convert it to kinetic energy thus “charging” that item with explosive results. As a young adult, he spent two years at the Weapon X holding facility on Three Mile Island, and earned the nickname of "Gambit" for frequently winning poker games with the guards. He escaped the facility, and returned to his hometown of New Orleans. X-Men Origins: Wolverine PC Game. A playthrough of DVS's 1998 unlicensed versus-fighting game for the SNES, X-Men vs. Street Fighter. This video shows two separate playthroughs. The first is with Ken, and the second (beginning at 9:54) is with Cyclops. I recorded this awhile back, and since I recently uploaded a video of the recently released Unholy Night, this seemed to be a good follow-up. X-Men vs. Street Fighter was also released on a physical cartridge, and also pulls assets from well-known, highly successful games. The majority of the graphics were pulled from the Japan-only PS1 X-Men vs. Street Fighter EX game. This includes what remains of the intro and ending screens, character sprites, and stage backgrounds. Since this was released on a 16 megabit cartridge, huge sacrifices had to be made to accommodate the eight playable characters here. The animation has been put through the shredder, so the fighters awkwardly jerk and bounce about, and the backgrounds are now completely static. The game does look nice in a freeze-frames though - the SNES's color palette handily manages to paint a nice looking picture. Of course you have to be realistic with your expectations. The PS1 couldn't faithfully reproduce the game - its version was a hatchet job of a port, so the SNES really stood no chance, no matter how talented the developers may have been. The sound has almost has been lifted almost entirely from the SNES port of Street Fighter II on the SNES. The tunes are verbatim copies (right down to the airplane sound, despite there being no airplanes nor map screens present), and most of the sound effects and voice samples have been similarly lifted. It's a bit weird to hear Psylocke with Chin Li's scream, that's for sure. And I love how the announcer always yells, "Round. Fight!" with no number. And how Cyclops' optic blast is accompanied by a Zangief spinning clothesline grunt. The gameplay feels like it's desperately trying to be Street Fighter II, but the lack of animation, the uneven speeds (which seems like a result of incorrectly programmed timings that should've normalized the speed to compensate for the missing frames), and the hit-or-miss special move inputs (again, probably a timing issue) make it inconsistent and awkward at best. At it's worst it's a complete mess. Some of the supers are present, though, which was quite a pleasant surprise. Still, I have to admit that there is some impressively ambitious work here. SFA2 used a 32meg cart and a special coprocessor to decompress assets on the fly when it was brought to the SNES, and the bigger, more demanding XvsSF arcade game stood no chance on a such a tiny cart. Yet, they managed to cobble something together that almost works in one form or another. Unholy Night is definitely a more solid game, but between the disparity in the state of homebrew development tools between 1998 and 2016 and the sheer scope of what was attempted here, X-Men vs. Street Fighter is a significantly more impressive feat. That doesn't make it good, but it does at least earn it a bit of street cred, in my mind. Anyways, it's a cool novelty, so for better or worse, I hope you enjoy this playthrough of X-Men vs. Street Fighter for the Super Nintendo. I actually had a lot of fun playing it. _ No cheats were used during the recording of this video. This is our full gameplay walkthrough for Xmen Origins Wolverine. X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a 2009 hack and slash action-adventure game loosely based on the film of the same name. The game release coincided with the release of the film on May 1, 2009 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Windows, Wii, PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS, and PlayStation Portable. When it came time to fighters the Sega Saturn was a beast SNK, SEGA and Capcom deliverd the saturn with some of the best fighters to date Today I want to more closely take a look at my top 5 Sega Saturn 2D fighters with sega saturn gameplay from each Pocket Fighter At Number 5 we have Pocket Fighter. Pocket fighter was released September 4, 1997 and came out on both the Saturn and PS1. In this game Capcom has taken the chibi fighters out of the Super Puzzle Fighter II and put them back into a fighting game. The fighters are from the Street Fighter 3, Street Fighter Alpha/Zero, Darkstalkers and Red Earth. The gems from Puzzle Fighter show up, as well. The result is a fighting game that is a fun derivative from many other Capcom fighters released during this generation. Cyberbots At Number 4 we have Cyberbots. Cyberbots was released March 28, 1997 and came out on both the Saturn and PS1. This is the kind of game we would never see today. Company's don't seem willing to take the risk to make an original fighter with newly created characters. The game feels like mix of transformers and street fighter and while that sounds odd, its a good thing! This game only showed up in Japan and never saw a release to western audiences on either the Saturn or the Playstation, during that generation. Street Fighter Zero 3 in Japan, Street Fighter Alpha 3 in US At Number 3 we have street fighter zero 3. This game was never supposed to exist, well not on the Saturn at least. The Sega Saturn version of Street was actually canned by Capcom and to everyone's dismay ended up getting a release in 1999 AFTER the Dreamcast version. This was a Japanese only release. This port makes use of Sega's 4-MB RAM cartridge which allows it to include more frames of animation, more sprites, and faster loading times than the PlayStation version, making it near arcade perfect. X-men vs Street Fighter At number 2 we have X-Men vs. Street Fighter. The Characters from X-Men and Street Fighter team up in a two-on-two tag-team battle. The game was released in the arcades in 1996 and as ported to both the Sega Saturn and the PS1 with the Saturn release coming out on November 27, 1997. The game was released in Europe and Japan only. It requires the 4MB RAM cart. The Saturn version is the best home console version of this game thanks to the 4MB cart. Vampire Savior / darkstalkers 3 At number 1 we Vampire Savior or darkstalkers in the US. This is the third game in Capcom's Darkstalkers series. The game was released in the arcades in 1997 and as ported to both the Sega Saturn and the PS1 with the Saturn release coming out on April 16, 1998. The game was released on the Saturn in Japan only. It requires the 4MB RAM cart. The Saturn version is the definitive home console version of this game thanks to the 4MB cart. X-Men HyperScan review! http://www.ClassicGameRoom.com Classic Game Room reviews X-MEN for the Mattel HyperScan from 2006, one of the worst fighting games ever created! Grab your HyperScan cards, scan them until they work, wait five hours for loading and fight!!!! Collect cards for the HyperScan in booster packs and play as X-Men and super villains like Wolverine, Jean Grey, Magneto and more! This one and two player 2D fighting game has awful controls and feels like it was made for 2-year olds. Hammer one of the four buttons on the HyperScan controller over and over again to win matches and laugh at the hilarious dialog. X-Men is the game that was packed in with the HyperScan game console and demonstrates the power (or lack thereof) contained with the mighty HyperScan. Collect cards, scan and save your stats on the cards (like Sylanders), the HyperScan may have been a neat idea but suffers from terrible execution, horrendous loading times and lousy games like X-Men.
