Sydney to Brisbane Train Journey on NSW TrainLink XPT Vlog

09:30
A train ride from Sydney to Brisbane on NSW TrainLink XPT XPT is a long distance interstate train which is operated by NSW TrainLink of New South Wales from Sydney and one of these routes are connecting Sydney and Brisbane in Queensland. I used the cheapest class fare on this train, the Economy Class costs $45 (non-refundable) and the 14 hour journey takes too long for me on a train like this but Australians think that these train journeys are considered medium. Here's Why You Should Explore Australia On The Ghan Train

07:36
Thinking about going on a trip to explore the land down under? We can’t say that we’re surprised considering Australia’s many natural wonders and man-made attractions, but if you were thinking of discovering this beautiful continent by car or by bus, we’re here to give you an amazing alternative: The Ghan train. This train began its adventures on February 1, 2005, and it has been providing exquisite journeys across the heart of Australia for 10 years now. If you would like to know a bit more about this outstanding train and what it stands for, we invite you to keep on reading. Here are 5 reasons why you should explore Australia on The Ghan train: 1. The entire trip lasts for 3 days and 2 nights, which means that you’ll have plenty of time to admire the unique scenery and the great variety of wildlife that call this amazing continent their home. All in all, the train will take you across 2,797 kilometers, and even though this may seem like a lot, keep in mind that this particular train offers exquisite accommodation options and impeccable service. You’ll definitely want the trip to last even more. 2. The food is simply extraordinary. Each and every year, the skilled chefs on board The Ghan prepare no less than 1.3 million delicious dishes, all of which are made with great skill and attention to detail. Highlights include Coorong Angus beef medallion, grilled saltwater barramundi and many more fancy meals that will tantalize your taste buds over and over again. Foodies would definitely enjoy the journey. 3. If you can afford the all-inclusive pack, then by all means go for it! The Gold and Platinum services on The Ghan include special off-train expeditions at certain stops along the journey, not to mention the regionally based dining options and the delicious beverages that aren’t available to regular customers. It may sound selective, but those who are accustomed to enjoying the finer things in life would probably want to experience “the best of the best” when it comes to traveling half way across an entire continent. 4. Wait until you hear about the views! In 2013, over 35,000 guests jumped at the opportunity to admire the superb sandstone cliffs, the outstanding Katherine Gorge and the mysterious tropical waters that sometimes house a crocodile or two. Furthermore, since the train is traveling north, you’d be able to feast your eyes on incredible sunrises and sunsets as long as the views are not obstructed. 5. Last but not least, it’s also worth mentioning that this train features its own Outback Explorer Lounge, which is open around the clock. This means that guests are able to socialize, meet new people and enjoy a good drink whenever they feel like it. Between that and the comfortable accommodations, high-end restaurants and majestic panoramas, how could you possibly be anything less than thrilled about this fantastic trip? INDIAN PACIFIC TRAIN Review – Luxury Train Travel with Great Southern Rail, Australia

07:55
Full article: http://sassyzengirl.com/indian-pacific-train-review/ The iconic transcontinental journey aboard one of Australia's most iconic luxury trains: Great Southern Railway's Indian Pacific Train. Soundtrack: "Eagle Rock" by Wes Hutchison The journey starts in Perth and first passes through the lovely Avon Valley before reaching more remote regions. The first day ends with a visit to the old gold mining town of Kalgoorlie, including a city tour and a bird's eye view of the saw called "Super Pit", a 3.6km wide open cut gold mine that operates 24/7. Overnight the Indian Pacific luxury train travels into the Nullarbor Plain, named after the Latin "null'arbor" = no tree. Midday reaches the small dwelling of Cook, once a thriving town of 200 literally in the middle of nowhere, but now reduced to a refueling stop for the Indian Pacific train and a population of 5. The vastness of the Australian continent becomes apparent on this day especially. Overnight the luxury train journey reaches Adelaide and the next morning begins with a city tour and excursion to Mount Lofty with spectacular views. From their Great Southern Rail continues through the Barossa Valley, a famous wine region and on to Broken Hil for the final excursion on this trip. The next morning, the Indian Pacific luxury train passes through the mythical Blue Mountains and finally reaches Sydney at midday. Luxury Train travels are a wonderful way to see beautiful scenery while enjoying style and pampering. The Indian Pacific and Ghan train offer that kind of exquisite experience in both their Gold and Platinum classes. Each cabin is fitted with private bathrooms and all meals and drinks are included as well as all off-train excursions. Travelling by Overnight Train in Australia

15:00
On my 1991 visit to Australia I avoided hotel costs and wasting precious time at airports by using overnight trains to travel between State Capitals. Between Adelaide and Melbourne I travelled on The Overland whilst from Melbourne to Sydney I travelled on the Melbourne Sydney Express. I arrived in Melbourne on a Sunday and on the way only saw local trains which were in sidings, however arrival in Sydney was during the Friday morning rush hour and this film shows us passing through busy stations with commuters on their way to work - no doubt wishing that they too could be travelling in the comfort of an overnight train with a club car! With air travel much time is consumed travelling to / from airports which typically are remote from city centres plus arriving early for check-in, security etc and afterwards simply getting out of the airport again plus waiting for baggage. Overnight trains also provide excellent alternatives to the 'red eye' scenario from getting up at 3am to catch early morning flights. By way of contrast one only needs to arrive at the station 30-40 minutes in advance of departure time and especially when the stations are in the city centre the travel time to / from hotels can be significantly less than to / from airports. Plus of course the train is simply a better way to travel! NB: ""This film includes me filming myself""

The OverLand Train in Australia: Adelaide to Melbourne 2017

14:28
take a ride of a lifetime across the Australian landscape. - The Overland is an Australian passenger train service between Melbourne and Adelaide. It first ran in 1887 as the Adelaide Express, but South Australians have always referred to the train as the Melbourne Express. It was given its current name in 1926. Now operated by private company Great Southern Rail, the train completes two return trips a week covering 828 kilometres between the state capitals. Originally an overnight train, it now operates during the day. ~Wikitravel - Please subcribe to my new channel dedicated to biking - its a great outlook on the world https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiol_TJeQn9pPWwik05oGsw/feed

TRAIN TRIP TO MERREDIN WA WESTERN AUSTRALIA

09:24
The first AvonLink left Northam at 6.55am on September 24, 1995. The event attracted considerable fanfare, it being the first new country passenger train service in Western Australia for 47 years. It arrived in Perth at 8.27am to more celebrations, not the least because it was the States first dedicated, long-distance commuter train. However, it was always seen as more than a commuter exercise in that it opened up the whole Avon Valley-Toodyay-Northam area for long-term growth in tourism and regional development. In late June 2004, the AvonLink introduced extended journeys three days a week through to Merredin. This service has become known as the MerredinLink. These extra train services provide a new transport option for people in communities such as Cunderdin, Tammin, Kellerberrin, Merredin as well as other smaller rural towns in the region. The new $12 million AvonLink train made its maiden trip from Northam to the city on August 1, 2005 - in the process officially marking the end of service for the 'old' Prospector railcars, which have travelled the route for more than 30 years. Now that the new AvonLink has come into service, passengers can expect a smoother, faster and more comfortable ride aboard Australias latest commuter train. This upgraded commuter service represents a major investment by the WA Government into powered railcars. The new AvonLink is the final part of a $56 million contract with NSW-based United Goninan, covering the delivery of nine railcars, configured into four trains - the two-car AvonLink, two two-car Prospectors and a three-car Prospector. The new AvonLink will provide one of the most comfortable commuter train rides in Australia with air conditioning throughout, cloth seats with footrests (and some with power outlets for laptop computers), and background music. It operates twice daily, Monday to Friday between Midland, Toodyay and Northam. Passengers arriving at Midland will be able to connect with Perths suburban electric train services. The MerredinLink operates from the East Perth Rail Terminal through to Merredin on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Like the new Prospector, the AvonLink was built in Newcastle and was put through extensive local testing before its introduction to service. The AvonLink joins the Prospector and Australind Train services as part of Transwa regional rail service don pugh may 2009

The World's Longest Truck - Road Train in Australia

05:26
Australia - a country road trains. In the Australian outback, where for hundreds of kilometers around you to meet a couple of other cattle-farms, or "stations", as they call them, train - a vital necessity. After all, in order to deliver the goods to the destination of the train, the owner, such as a sheep station would have to get their living from the load to the nearest railway hundreds of kilometers. Road trains - powerful trucks, which stretches for two, three (and sometimes more) of huge trailer, capable in a matter of days to cross the Green Continent, connecting the country's states and territories. Traveling Iran by train | DW Documentary

42:25
Iran is opening its doors to foreigners and a train ride from the Persian Gulf to the Caspian Sea is a great way to get to know the country and its people. The travel restrictions that are now being lifted were in place for decades. Many Iranians are hoping they will now be able to lead a freer life – and we meet many of these hospitable and welcoming people on our journey through the Middle Eastern nation. The country’s most important rail link, the Trans-Iranian Railway, runs for approximately 1400 kilometers from the Persian Gulf via Teheran to the Caspian Sea. The journey starts in Khorramshahr on the Shatt al-Arab, the river border between Iraq and Iran. Traveling past oil fields, the train reaches Shushtar. One of the top sights here is the historic hydraulic system, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After that, the train heads up into the Zagros Mountains. The journey is interrupted by a break for prayer. Breath-taking landscapes move past the train window until we reach the highest point not only of our journey but of the entire rail network: 2,200 meters above sea level between Dorud and Arak. During a brief stop in Qom, travelers can refuel with sohan, a pastry made of wheat germ, flour and sugar. The next section of the track is high-speed and we continue on to Teheran at 160 km/h. The metropolitan area is home to more than 15 million people. The last leg takes us to the north of the country. In the Alborz Mountains, we find out what role the Trans-Iranian Railway played during Stalin’s major offensive against the German army in World War II. Our oriental rail adventure ends in Bandar-e Torkaman on the Caspian Sea. _______ Exciting, powerful and informative – DW Documentary is always close to current affairs and international events. Our eclectic mix of award-winning films and reports take you straight to the heart of the story. SlowTV Train Trip Riverina XPT Sydney to Yass Junction - way to Wagga Wagga 1992. Like 'The Ghan'!

02:28:25
https://www.TravelWineFood.com Recently, thanks to the SBS channel's TV show 'The Ghan' the SlowTV movement has finally taken off in Australia. Great Rail Journeys. In 1992 I began recording a number of 'out of the window' videos from various trains around the world with the intention of starting something similar at the time. (The Slow VHS movement!) At the time, slow style VHS travel guides from the USA, featuring long shots from vehicles, were popular in the VHS sections of Woolworths and Coles, and I thought that I could do something similar with trains in Australia. What I found was that, while my recording equipment was at the lower end of the professional range at the time, attempting to correctly edit with two VHS video recorders meant a very unprofessional production. Also, my footage was originally captured in letterbox format when TV was starting to turn to widescreen. In the early 90s, the whole idea turned out to be too expensive and I shelved it for about 25 years, almost throwing everything out in 2015 but deciding at the last minute to convert surviving tape remnants to digital, before discarding them. And so, here is an edited version of my first attempt. The original plan was to record some selected scenery from Central station to Wagga Wagga (a 6-7 hour journey) but I ran out of battery after 3 hours so I ended up getting just past Yass Junction. On the way back I recorded the area from the closed station Bomen to just past Junee, so a bit of that leg was added to this video at the end. Unfortunately, a different filter was used. In any case, you could have this playing on your computer with the sound down, while you go about your daily chores at home, or you could sit and watch the old houses, cars and stations go by, occasionally punctuated with a few names and words popping up here and there by me. If the video exceeds 10,000 views I'll begin work on my next one - Los Angeles to Chicago with Amtrak 1993. If you enjoyed this video, please share on Facebook. If you'd prefer something more contemporary, check out https://www.TravelWineFood.com for my recent reviews, and other videos on this channel. I'll be adding more edited highlights from my other travels over the years in 2018.
