Tip Top Trading finally launch the plastic aubergine. But will the presentation of their new product go according to plan? For more English at Work and other great content:: http://www.bbc.co.uk/learningenglish/english/features/english-at-work TRANSCRIPT Narrator Welcome back to English at Work. It's an exciting day for Tip Top Trading. It's launching its latest product – the plastic aubergine. The launch is taking place at a swanky hotel; lots of clients have turned up - but there's one important person missing. Denise Has anyone seen Anna? Paul I haven't seen her all morning. Tom, you were with her last. Tom That was last night at the pub. She was drowning her sorrows. Denise Drowning her sorrows? Tom Yeah. She saw Dave from IT with another woman – Julie from accounts, actually. She was very upset. Denise Oh poor Anna. Paul So you left her drowning in the pub? And who's got the prototype aubergine to show at the launch? Tom Oh no! Anna has. It's in her bag. What are we going to do? Denise Panic! Paul No Denise. Calm down. I'll just have to make a start and I'm sure Anna will turn up. OK, here goes. Excuse me everyone, could you all gather round? Our presentation is about to begin. Tom I'll change the slides for you on the computer Paul. I'm good with technology. Paul Okey dokey. Ermm…ladies and gentlemen, thank you for coming to our presentation. We have something very exciting to…ermm…show you and it's not a fruit…ha ha… Anna …and here it is – fresh from the factory – our plastic aubergine! Narrator Anna, you're just in time. Anna I know. I think I drank a bit too much last night and now I can't remember what to say. Narrator Well, you need to convince everyone that this is best product on the market and that it's something they really want. You could say "We believe this high quality product is something your business needs" – and, "Our new product has been designed to the highest specifications" – and tell people that "This product is the perfect decoration on any café or restaurant table" – tell them that, and the orders will come flying in! Anna What? They'll send them by aeroplane? Narrator No Anna! Just do your presentation and see what happens. Anna OK then. Yes everyone, this aubergine may look good enough to eat but it is made of the highest quality plastic and I'm convinced it's something your business needs. Paul Err yes, that's right. It may be plastic but it is… fantastic! Anna Thank you Paul. This product has been designed to the highest specifications. It's tough and durable. Client Yeah but why would I want to buy it? Tom 'Cos it's cheap mate! Anna No Tom. It's because it is the perfect decoration on any café or restaurant table. It shows you're serious about food. Paul And it doesn't go mouldy. Anna Yes. We're taking orders today and… and… Narrator And? And what, Anna? Anna I don't know what to say next. Narrator Offer them a discount and a guarantee. Anna Oh right. If you place an order for more than 1,000, we can offer you a generous discount. Plus, all our products come with a money-back guarantee. Client I like it! Narrator Well done Anna. She gave a clear presentation, and sounded enthusiastic about the product. Here's a reminder of some of the things she said: It is made of the highest quality plastic and I'm convinced it’s something your business needs. This product has been designed to the highest specifications. It's tough and durable. It is the perfect decoration on any café or restaurant table. We can offer you a generous discount. Plus, all our products come with a money-back guarantee. Anna Thanks for listening. Tom has a few slides to show, which illustrate how the aubergine has been designed. Tom… Tom? Tom Oh no, it's frozen, the slides won't change. Dave It's OK, I can fix it, I am the IT guy after all. Tom Dave? What are you doing here? Cheating on Anna like that. Here Anna, give me that aubergine. Anna Tom, no! Tom There, that's for upsetting Anna. Dave Ha ha - missed me! Denise Ha! Well the aubergine's certainly tough and durable. Paul Tom, Anna, I think we'd better talk about this back in my office. Narrator Crikey! That was certainly a spectacular presentation. Let's hope Tom’s outburst doesn't stop the orders flying in – but not via the window! Find out next time on English at Work. Bye!

Here’s what to do before anything else. The purpose of a product launch is to drive traffic and sales to your online business, so that it can grow and thrive. Launching a new product is a great way to attract new customers, but it takes time to plan and execute. Many entrepreneurs feel the need to promote their products right away, and end up rushing the process. The result can be disastrous. In the words of David Ramsey, "People are in such a hurry to launch their product that they seldom look at marketing from a bird's eye view and they don't create a systematic plan." A successful product launch starts with a great strategy, and I'm here to walk you through it. Are you ready to learn the step-by-step process for launching your product? Here's what to do before anything else. This page contains affiliate links. If you purchase a product through one of them, I will receive a commission (at no additional cost to you). Who is a Product Manager and What do they do? [Career Insights]

07:54
The role of a product manager is crucial but also one of the least understood ones. What does a product manager really do? Is he more of a data analyst? Or someone who deals with the tech aspects of product, leading the team of engineers? Or does the product manager largely concern himself/herself with user experience, design or the overall business strategy? Mind-boggling isn't it? No wonder the role is difficult to understand for most. In this video, Ravijot Chugh, Co-Founder and Product Head at UpGrad, explains in detail the various responsibilities a Product Manager has, and that you need to execute to the best of your ability to be a good PM. If you want to bag one among the thousands of highly coveted openings for Product Managers between now and 2020 (only to grow exponentially even after), you need to start upgrading your existing skills and mastering these key skills. Product Managers are often referred to as mini-CEOs of the product. This is why, at tech companies, startups and large MNCs that are now diversifying, alike, the role of Product Managers is lucrative and one of the most important in the organization. Steve Jobs' amazing marketing strategy - MUST WATCH

07:08
Check out these books about Steve Jobs: * Steve Jobs: https://amzn.to/2PGH3nM * The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs: https://amzn.to/2JB1j55 * Becoming Steve Jobs: https://amzn.to/2QgZKf8 * Steve Jobs: The Man Who Thought Differently: https://amzn.to/2AHIqdQ * Steve Jobs (Movie): https://amzn.to/2CZgLq3 Steve Jobs shares his amazingly different approach to marketing and how he used it to build Apple into one of the largest companies in the world. * Join my BELIEVE newsletter: http://www.evancarmichael.com/newsletter/ Transcript: To me….marketing is about values. This is a very complicated world. It’s a very noisy world. And we’re not going to get a chance to get people to remember much about us. No company is! And so, we have to be really clear on what we want them to know about us. Now Apple, fortunately, is one of half-a-dozen best brands in the whole world. Right up there with Nike, Disney, Coke, Sony — it is one of the greats of the greats. Not just in this country, but all around the globe. But even a great brand needs investment and caring if it’s going to retain its relevance and vitality. And the Apple brand has clearly suffered from neglect in this area in the last few years. And we need to bring it back! The way to do that is NOT to talk about speeds and fees. It’s NOT to talk about bits and mega-hertz. It’s NOT to talk about why we are better than Windows. The dairy industry tried for 20 years to convince you that milk was good for you. It’s a lie, but they tried anyway. And the sales were falling. And then they tried “Got milk” and the sales went up. “Got milk” wasn’t even talking about the product. In fact, it focuses on the absence of the product. But the best example of all, and one of the greatest jobs of marketing that the universe has ever seen, is Nike. Remember, Nike sells a commodity. They sell shoes!!! And yet, when you think of Nike you feel something different than a shoe company. In their ads, as you know, they don’t ever talk about the product. They don’t ever tell you about their air soles and why they are better than Reebok’s air soles. What does Nike do in their advertising? They honor great athletes. And they honor great athletics. That’s who they are, that’s what they are about! Apple spends a fortune on advertising — you’d never know it….you’d never know it! So…when I got here, Apple just fired their agency and there was a competition with 23 agencies that…you know…four years from now we would pick one. And we blew that up and we hired Chiat\Day, the ad agency that I was fortunate enough to work with years ago and created some award winning work including the commercial voted the best ad ever made, 1984 (by Advertising Professionals). And…we started working about eight weeks ago, and the question we asked was, “Our customers want to know who is Apple and what is it that we stand for…where do we fit in this world?” And what we’re about isn’t making boxes for people to get their jobs done — although we do that well. We do that better than almost anybody, in some cases. But Apple is about something more than that! Apple at the core…its core value — is that, we believe that people with passion can change the world for the better. That’s what we believe! And we have had the opportunity to work with people like that. We’ve had the opportunity to work with people like you; with software developers, with customers, who have done it. In some big, and some small ways. And we believe that, in this world, people can change it for the better. And that those people who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world are the ones that actually do! And so, what we’re going to do in our first brand marketing campaign in several years, is to get back to that core value! A lot of things have changed. The market is in a total different place than where it was a decade ago. And Apple is totally different — and Apple’s place in it is totally different. And believe me, the products, and the distribution strategy, and the manufacturing are totally different…and we understand that. But values and core values — those things shouldn’t change. The things that Apple believed in at its core, are the same things Apple really stands for today. How to Give a Presentation About a Product

02:01
Visit https://skills.presentationexpressions.com/presentations for the Elite Presentation Skills Course. http://presentationexpressions.com I was asked a little while ago about how to give a presentation about a product. In particular, how to give a presentation about shampoo. Giving a presentation about a product is an important thing to know how to do because you are likely to use this skill when also talking about yourself or your ideas. The key thing to remember is that you have to focus on benefits to your target audience and not only on the features of the product. For example, if it’s shampoo that doesn’t make you cry, then that is a feature. The benefit is that if you’re a parent, it will be much more comfortable for your child if the shampoo doesn’t sting his or her eyes. (Of course, that no tears shampoo is actually pretty nasty so it’s best to avoid it, but anyway.) Check out the video to learn more about how to give a presentation about a product and be sure to head over to PresentationExpressions.com to sign up for the weekly newsletter. Thanks.

3 Minute Product Manager: Benefit Trees

How To Market New Products Or Services

07:59
Okay, so I’m gonna be upfront with you. I really don’t read a lot of marketing books. Sure, I devoured all the classics. Still, for the life of me I couldn’t name the latest and greatest marketing and advertising book topping the best-seller list. But you’re a marketing Wizard, you say. How can this be? Oh, no! I’ve been exposed as a fraud. I dunno. Maybe it’s the non-conformist in me. More likely than not, it’s because I want to know the root of an idea’s origins. I want to know WHY something works. So I’ve developed my persuasive prowess by studying neurology, psychology, biology, and the arts. That’s probably how I stumbled upon a little-known research book titled, Diffusion of Innovations by Everette M. Rogers. It’s a book every Marketing Wizard should read. And it definitely ranks as a classic. Diffusion of Innovations: http://www.amazon.com/Diffusion-Innovations-5th-Everett-Rogers/dp/0743222091/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1408307729&sr=1-1&keywords=diffusion+of+innovations Now, don’t get your undies in a bunch about the “innovations” part of the title. Yes, when Roger’s speaks of innovations, he’s referring to new products or services being introduced to the marketplace. But, the concepts found in his book provides any Marketing Wizard with a rock-solid blueprint for persuading customers to buy from you—even if what you’re selling has been around longer than Jerry Lewis. Is he still alive? Just look at all the dog-eared pages and highlights I made. Lots of good marketing mojo in this book for sure. Like this: “In developing a favorable or unfavorable attitude toward an innovation, an individual may mentally apply the new idea to his or her present or anticipated future situation before deciding whether or not to try it,” says Rogers. “This vicarious trial involves the ability to think hypothetically and counterfactually and to project into the future: What if I adopt this innovation? Forward planning is involved at the persuasion stage.” Helping your customers to imagine doing the thing that you want them to do. That’s what Rogers is talking about here. And that’s what you’re trying to make happen with your marketing as well. So let’s get knee deep into the five factors that influence the spread of new ideas and lead to widespread adoption: Number One: Relative Advantage - the degree to which an innovation is perceived to be better than the product or service it supersedes. Naturally, the greater the perceived relative advantage of an innovation, the more rapid its rate of adoption will be. Your goal here is to frame the buying conversation to favor you. Since we know that customers naturally contrast and compare the differences among their available options, you must make an apples-to-oranges comparison—rising above the competition to become the obvious choice. Now, logical, reason why marketing is important … but don’t forget to speak to your customer’s emotions. Tap into an emotional benefit that drives your customer’s desire—one that your customer is willing to pay for. Marketing and advertising that speaks to a dominant, driving emotion is much more powerful and persuasive than copy that makes a logical argument alone. Number Two: Compatibility - the degree to which an innovation is perceived to be consistent with existing values, past experiences and the needs of potential adopters. Products and services that are deemed less compatible or incompatible with the norms of a social system will not be adopted as rapidly as those that are. Please don’t expect your customers to adopt a new belief system. You can’t please all. Remember, only weasel brands try’n snuggle up to every customer in the marketplace. So find a group of customers with a social system that your products and services are compatible with. Number Three: Complexity - the degree to which which an innovation is perceived to be difficult to understand and use. Simplicity is a better way to think about this. Marketers have known for awhile now that uncertainty is the costly side-effect of overwhelming your customers with too much choice. Generally speaking, the more options customers have at their fingertips, the more indecisive they’ll become. And complexity often creates the desire for simplicity. Gretsch Broadkaster Series: The Timeless Classic’s Return

02:38
Gretsch reintroduces Broadkaster’s timeless sound with our new line of kits. Director of Product John Palmer and Product Manager Joe Mazza discuss the historic place that Broadkaster has in drumming’s rich lineage. From the 1930s to the 1950s, it was the standard bearer with drum heroes like Art Blakey, Max Roach, Louie Bellson, Papa Jo Jones who all came up playing Broadkaster. The new series ties Gretsch’s great historic lineage to today’s contemporary music applications. Also in this video Mark Guiliana demonstrates and discusses the Anniversary Sparkle Nitron Finish Kit with Vintage Hardware (BK-J484V-ASP), and Satin Classic Maple Lacquer Finish with Standard Hardware (BK-R424). As Mark says, “They are new drums fresh out of the box, that have this embedded personality and history inside them.”

What's The Best Octane For Hand Held Equipment? What About Ethanol?

19:02
A lot of you guys recently asked me a great question about 2 stroke mix, and 2 stroke fuel. Specifically, what is the best octane or fuel mixture for our handheld equipment. I know a lot of new folks are getting into the industry today, and there is also a lot of confusion about what fuel we should all be using. Now I am not an engineer by any means, but I know someone who could provide some technical answers. Jason Wilk is with ECHO, and he is one of their main guys as a product manager. Him and I spent a lot of time talking over the last 18 months, discussing little technical questions about topics just like this. I wanted to get Jason on the phone and get a solid concise answer, that you guys could understand, about what's the best suggested fuel for us to be using on our 2 stroke equipment. Hope you guys enjoyed Jason and my discussion on the difference between 87, 89, 93, and even a few tips about Ethanol and what to look out for. If you're a skimmer kind of like me, and you want the quick answer: Just use 89 or above. :-) Keep Up With Us! ► Subscribe To Our Channel: http://tinyurl.com/jjtlsb8 ► Smash The Bell To Be Part Of https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=%23notificationsquad ► Follow Us on Instagram: http://tinyurl.com/jbf9y7p Want To Send Us A Product Or Piece Of Equipment To Review?
