10 STRANGE Deep Sea Photos Explained

08:39
From a suicide squid squad, to the eery findings deep under the Australian Great Barrier Reef, these are 10 STRANGE Deep Sea Photos Explained Under the Reef Let’s head back to Australia’s Great Barrier Reef for this one … actually, we’re heading under the Reef. Researchers came away with some incredible pictures of deep sea creatures when high-tech cameras were able to examine environments some 1500 meters (nearly 5000 feet) below the surface. Scary-looking deep-sea anglerfish, swarms of crustaceans and deep sea jellyfish Atolla were among the many strange forms of ocean life found over the course of the 10 day research project. When this bizarre looking deep sea creature washed up on a New Zealand beach earlier in 2016, people didn’t know what to make of it. The 13-foot animal’s disturbing, black dinner-plate-sized eyes and humped back gave a few tourists a shock … but some maintained their composure long enough to take a picture of the creature … or with the creature! While the sea creature may have unusual looks, it’s not exactly an unusual creature. It’s a bigeye thresher shark, known to hunt offshore, but are rarely observed close to beaches. The animals use their long tail to stun prey, but aren’t considered a threat to humans. There are three species of thresher shark, and all have been listed as ‘vulnerable to extinction’ since 2007. Acorn Worm -- A six-week research project in 2010 set out to investigate marine life forms along the mid-Atlantic ridge … it’s a sub-polar front where warm waters from the south meets cold waters from the Gulf Stream. The exploration yielded a vast array of sea life and many potential new species. This Acorn Worm (aka Enteropneust Hemichordate anter-ope-nee-ist (heem-mah-chore-date) was photographed with a Remote Operated Vehicle, which located the creature using its adhesive tentacles to attach itself to the seafloor. The picture by David Shale almost looks like the worm could be a flower blossoming from its stem underwater. Acorn Worms are invertebrates that can survive at depths of 10,000 feet below the ocean surface. Deep Sea Anemone -- Does it look like a trap is waiting to be sprung … like if you get too close to the center of this thing, those tentacles will suddenly rise up and imprison you? You’re not far wrong. Say hello to the sea anemone … an invertebrate carnivore named after the terrestrial anemone flower, due to the perceived resemblance. They spend most of their time attached to rocks on the seafloor. They’ll also attach themselves to coral reefs waiting for fish to pass by. Those tentacles are actually filled with venom, which will paralyze prey the anemone ensnares. While most anemones are harmless to humans, certain highly toxic species are potentially lethal. Did you know that depending on the species, sea anemones can live more than 50 years? Big Red -- Bet you wouldn't guess this is a jellyfish. This relatively new species was discovered in the Pacific Ocean in 2003 … but was first spotted 10 years earlier. Only 23 members of this species have been found, with only a very small specimen acquired for study. The creatures are known to grow up to 30 inches in diameter and live at ocean depths of nearly 5000 feet. Because they live at such extreme depths, remote operated submarines were used to take pictures and high-resolution videos of the creatures. What really makes them distinct from other species of jellyfish is the lack of long tentacles … this creature has four-to-seven thick, fleshy arms it uses to capture food and eat. While scientists know the jellyfish is red all over, it could take awhile before researchers can uncover more information pertaining to the animal's food, predators, reproduction and so on. Here’s a fun fact … researchers were originally going to call the animal “Big Ugly” … but it was renamed “Gran rojo” … Spanish for Big Red. Think this picture of a Beluga whale looks strange? He sounded even stranger. This is Noc, a whale that could actually mimic human speech. His voice was so human-like that it often fooled divers … and made researchers believe the marine mammal was trying to make contact with his human friends. It’s thought that Noc began making human-like sounds after hearing divers using their communication equipment underwater. After hearing Noc, scientists at the National Marine Mammal Foundation in San Diego tried to pick up more voices by building a special underwater listening platform. While Noc could be heard on the mic, the other two older whales who lived with him didn’t seem as eager to communicate. Sorry to say that after 30 years at the national Marine Mammal Foundation, Noc passed away in 2007. 18 Most Haunting Images From Under the Sea

11:34
You won't believe what is actually captured in photos deep underwater from yoga with a stingray to mysterious abandoned boats 9. Deadly Blue Hole This enormous hole on the ocean floor in known as ‘Dean’s Blue Hole’ and is the world’s deepest known saltwater blue hole that has an entrance below sea level. It is 202 meters deep and is located in a bay just west of Clarence Town on Long Island in the Bahamas. It certainly gives me goosebumps just looking at it, and I wouldn’t want to fall into it. 8. Scary Giant Squid One of the most daunting and intimidating sea creatures of them all is the giant squid, which can grow to a massive size because of deep-sea gigantism. According to recent estimates, the giant squid females can grow to lengths of 43 feet, or 13 meters, and the males grow up to 33 feet, or 10 meters, from the tip of the tentacles to the posterior fins. That is as large as an average yacht! Can you say deep sea nightmare? 7. Yoga with a Giant Stingray While it may look like the stingray is smiling, and that the swimmer is doing calming yoga, the beauty of this picture is how dangerous what the swimmer is doing actually is. Contact with a stingray’s stinger could mean death for this swimmer. The large fish, and the contrast of how small the human is in comparison, makes this one of the most breathtaking underwater interaction pictures. Also, it is pretty impressive how the swimmer is holding that beautiful pose with the giant stingray just feet away. 6. Creepy Wall of Seaweed No, this is not an optical illusion. That’s right, what you are seeing in this picture is tons of giant seaweed in the rolling waves. Yes, seaweed, like what sushi is wrapped in. But this form of seaweed is far less edible and far more sinister. People die every year from getting caught in its sliminess, causing them to drown as a result. Typically, seaweed isn’t considered as dangerous as a shark, but have you ever had that feeling of something under the water brushing up against you that makes you want to jump out of your skin? That is exactly what you get with this seaweed. 5. Abandoned Submarine The ocean floor doesn’t just have creepy animals, but also some creepy leftovers from humans. There is something so creepy about swimming around the remains of an old ship, or in this case, a giant abandoned submarine. Around the submarine, you will find giant jellyfish and big fish, but that is not the biggest concern for divers. Getting caught in the massive boat’s propeller would spell out certain death. It would probably be best to stick to coral reefs and sharks. 4. The Shadowing Shark What could be more pleasant than a day out on your kayak paddling through crystal clear turquoise waters? Well, this unassuming fella clearly thought the same thing. But what he doesn’t know is that there is danger lurking just feet from him, which could have resulted in a lethal attack. This situation is exactly how many people who are killed by sharks happen to die – when they are least expecting it. We would be high-tailing it out of there as fast as we could paddle. 3. Creepy Ocean Bug So the Goblin Shark and the Wolffish may be terribly ugly looking things, even by sea creature standards, but this gigantic sea bug really takes the cake. It has officially been called a giant isopod, and it certainly is a giant. While this creepy creature may not be as delicious as a sea bream or red snapper, this fisherman looks quite happy with himself for catching the big crustacean. 2. Shark Face Just this picture alone is enough to make anyone question going for a swim in the ocean. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the dramatic and intense cello music and the unsuspecting swimmer being dragged to the depths of the ocean to become dinner for one of these sharp-toothed creatures. The scariest part is just how calm the top of the water looks, making it even more real that this shark could be swimming near you and you wouldn’t even know it. Brave the open ocean… if you dare! 1. Creepy Bubble Formation Water is an interesting substance, allowing for creepy displays when air comes into contact with it. Imagine scuba diving along the ocean bed only to look up and see what appears to be a bubble man. It would give any of us the heebie-jeebies, especially knowing what other creatures share the water.

Look What I Just Caught In The Ocean... Description: What’s up Tops fans?! And welcome back to another epic episode from your favorite YouTube channel – Top Supreme! Did you know that we’re one of the few channels online that actually post content every single day?! Yeah, that’s right! Today we’ll be diving into the deepest parts of the earth’s vast and deep waters with our title – Look What I Just Caught in the Ocean! Want to become part of the Supreme Team? Make sure to subscribe down below with notifications ON so you don’t miss anything we post each day! Let’s get rollin! 10 Peacock Mantis Shrimp Alright guys and girls let’s just kick things off right here – where we introduce you too the mantis shrimp – or what’s sometimes called, the peacock mantis shrimp. This beautifully colored sea animal is a wide array of colors, with it’s hard shell being predominately bright green, it isn’t hard to tell why these guys are sometimes called the peacocks of the underwater world. Still, it isn’t just the colors that make this creature so fascinating. These animals have the most complex eyes found anywhere in the animal kingdom! Seriously, their eyes have the ability to detect 10 times more color than a human – and if that’s not enough, they even have the ability to see ultraviolet and infrared light. 9 Blob Fish Ok picking up and moving right along – check this ugly guy out! Now usually when I say something is ugly you could look at it and probably say to yourself – ‘wow, this thing isn’t the most attractive but ugly may be a bit harsh’… well, I guarantee you won’t be saying that about our next animal on today’s list. The Blog Fish – is, without a shadow of a doubt – one of the single ugliest things I’ve ever seen in my life! Now that all that’s out the way – check this ugly thing out! These little guys live over 4000 feet below sea level, deep in the depths of the oceans near Australia and New Zealand. Now, why is the Blob Fish so freaking ugly, someone might ask? Well, thanks for your hypothetical question – the blog fish is so hideous because of how far under the water it lives. The pressure is much different, and much more intense, that far below sea level – so the blob fish, essentially, is just a mass of gelatin. 8 Textile Cone Snail Moving right along to number 8 on today’s list – meet the textile cone snail. Now brace yourself, because this is one of the deadliest things you could come across in the water. Ever. This venomous snail – which is carnivorous and is known to feast on other snails, along with small fish – injects a conotoxin – which is potent enough to kill 10 people! This little guy has a microscopic needle which is sharp enough to pierce a wetsuit, so handling live ones definitely isn’t recommended. The textile cone snail is a beautiful animal – with an ugly attitude, and deadly weaponry. If you don’t take anything away from today’s video, take this – the textile cone snail is not a snail to be toyed with. 7 2 Mouth Swimmer Ok let’s keep it moving right along and let’s check out one nature’s biggest underwater terrors. Are you ready for one of the most hideous things you’ve ever seen in your life? Check this guy out. This extremely rare species of deep sea shark looks absolutely terrifying, scouring the ocean floors as it looks for food. But check out the way that it eats. But pay attention to this – it has an additional jaw stick right out from what we thought was the original mouth of this insanely horror movie inspired looking shark. Now look at how it brings in this unsuspecting fish. Poor little guy. I don’t know about you, but one of the things that I love about living on this planet is that we never know what we’re gonna run into on a given day! And not only does that apply to us humans, but it clearly is very clear that that’s the manner in which the animal world operates, as well!! 6 Rise to Heaven 5 ?? 4 ?? 3 ?? 2 ?? 1 ?? Did N.O.A.A Confirm The Existence Of Sea Monsters?

Support Us On Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/MysteryHistory We Are Also On Steemit: https://steemit.com/@mysteryhistory Julia, is the name given to the unknown source of a sound recorded on March 1, 1999. It was recorded on the eastern equatorial Pacific, using an autonomous hydrophone array. Heard for many thousands of kilometres, the source of the sound has been largely dismissed as an iceberg running aground somewhere off of Antarctica, it’s the point of origin being somewhere between Bransfield Straits and Cape Adare. What gave this story a rather chilling twist however, is a classified image which later surfaced, a classified image later redacted, taken by a NASA satellite, which shows something with an enormous shadow, within the waters of Cape Adare at the time, which if confirmed as a living animal, would be classified as a sea monster of gigantic proportions. The USA’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrations, or the NOAA for short, have captured and subsequently released, a number of mysterious sounds of possible underwater monsters over the past few years. The Upsweep is an unidentified sound detected on the American NOAA's equatorial autonomous hydrophone arrays. This sound was present when the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory began recording its sound surveillance system, SOSUS, in August, 1991. It consists of a long train of narrow-band upsweeping sounds of several seconds in duration each. The source level was high enough to be recorded throughout the Pacific. The sound appears to be seasonal, generally reaching peaks in spring and autumn, but it is unclear why. The source can be roughly located at 54°S 140°W, which is near the location of volcanic activity, but the origin of the sound remains a mystery. The Whistle, recorded in the Mariana volcanic arc of the Pacific ocean, but since it was only recorded on one hydrophone, rather than the three required to triangulate a location, it is considered "unidentified. Bloop is the name given to an ultra-low-frequency and extremely powerful underwater sound detected by the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in 1997. The sound's source was roughly triangulated to a remote point in the south Pacific Ocean west of the southern tip of South America, and the sound was detected several times. According to the NOAA description, it rises in frequency rapidly over the duration of one minute, and was of sufficient amplitude to be heard on multiple sensors, at a range of over 5,000 km. Dr. Christopher Fox does not believe its origin to be man-made, such as a submarine or bomb, nor is it familiar to geological events such as volcanoes or earthquakes. The audio profile of Bloop does indeed resemble that of a living creature, yet the source is a mystery both because it is different from any known sounds and because it was several times louder than the loudest ever recorded animal, the blue whale. Slow Down is name given to another mysterious deep sea sound, recorded on May 19, 1997, in the Equatorial Pacific Ocean, name was chosen because the sound slowly decreases in frequency over a duration of 7 minutes. It was recorded using an autonomous hydrophone array. The sound has been picked up several times each year since 1997. And finally, the Train is the name given to a sound recorded on March 5, 1997 on the Equatorial Pacific Ocean autonomous hydrophone array. The sound rises to a quasi-steady frequency, what is especially interesting about this sounds is its origins, which are also within Cape Adare, the same general location as Julia. Could some of these sounds be the mating calls of unknown sea monsters? Maybe one day. We will find out… https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_unexplained_sounds

Another, taken from below the waterline, shows plastic bottles, bags and other rubbish on the surface blocking out sunlight. It is thought the rubbish was washed into the sea from nearby Guatemala, carried on rivers swollen by the recent rainy season flowing through towns and villages. For one, you’ll begin to be immersed in darkness. Second, the pressure will change. So, the creatures that have been discovered deep in the oceanic depths are quite different biologically, and they can be quite terrifying to look at. But once we begin to understand them, we can start to learn more about our existence, and even come closer to curing diseases and solving some of the world’s most complex mysteries. However, the sea creatures that have been discovered recently have shown to be just downright creepy and terrifying. You probably recall the Angler Fish, especially if you’re seen the Disney movie, “Finding Nemo”. If you didn’t realize that this fish is the real deal, get ready for new additions to your nightmares. It wasn’t a work of fiction or some messed up fantasy of some Disney Imagineer. The fish that we see in this video is actually female, and the male is a small weakling, wandering the sea to find a female with her pheromones. The male then attaches itself to the female and becomes a parasite. Every part of the male merges with the female except for the testicles, which the female uses to impregnate herself. Jokes aside, this is quite a fascinating process despite how creepy it is. Similar to the angler fish is the Viper Fish, which has a natural extra attachment that illuminates in the darkness of the sea with the purpose of attracting prey. The blob fish is a creature that you wonder what God was smoking or shooting up when he decided to create the blob fish. This fish has no bones, and literally just hangs out on the ocean floor and hopes that food comes to its mouth. Whether you want to worship the blob fish for its epic level of laziness or wonder how in the world the species is still in existence with such an apathetic demeanor, it’s still creepy to look at. Then we have the goblin shark, which is pretty much like the underwater version of the alien from the movie “Alien” due to its protruding mouth. The goblin shark has a large snout and needle-like teeth that are sharp and deadly. For a completely random sea creature, we have the Christmas Tree Worms, which really look like tiny walking fir trees that come in different colors. The branches or hair-like appendages help them breathe as well as consume phytoplankton. Then we have the sea pig, which looks nothing like the pigs we have on land. But instead the sea pig is a multi-tubed foot sea creature that is closely related to the sea cucumber. It eats by pulling water and absorbing organic food. Quite innovative, even though it looks creepy. For more creepy sea creatures, check out the rest of the video for more. In this video, we will explore the top 10 mythical sea creatures. Number 10. Cthulhu. Cthulhu is an undersea monster and has been described as a mix between a giant octopus, a man and a dragon... It is hundreds of meters tall, with human-looking arms and legs and a pair of wings on its back. Cthulhu's head looks like an octopus, with tentacles surrounding its supposed mouth... H. P. Lovecraft's story, "The Call of Cthulhu", established the character as a malevolent entity hibernating within an underwater city in the South Pacific called R'lyeh... Games company TSR included an entire chapter on the Cthulhu mythos in Deities & Demigods (1980)… Number 9. Leviathan. The Leviathan of the Middle Ages was used as an image of Satan, attempting to eat God’s creatures... Leviathan became associated with, and may originally have referred to, the visual motif of the Hellmouth, a monstrous animal into whose mouth the damned disappear at the Last Judgement... Young Earth Creationists argue that both the Leviathan and the Behemoth in the Bible could only have been dinosaurs that they claim still existed when the Book of Job was written... In the study of demonology, the Leviathan is one of the seven princes of Hell and its gatekeeper.

5 Unexplained & Mysterious Deep Sea Creatures Caught On Camera!

5 Unexplained & Mysterious Deep Sea Creatures Caught On Camera 2016 Transcript: There is no doubt our oceans contain many mysteries and creatures that go beyond our imagination. Really. Just imagine how many deep sea creatures we havent found that would simply blow our mind if we ever caught them on camera... But today you are lucky because here are 5 Unexplained & Mysterious Deep Sea Creatures Caught On Camera! Prepare because here.... we begin... 1. The Corfu Island Creature A Scottish tourist named Harvey Robertson had the shock of his life as he found the image of a mysterious creature in his vacation’s pictures. Harvey was on a cruise with his family in Corfu when he took a series of photographs from the inside of a cave. But what he didnt notice was the monster he captured in a cave around the island of Corfu that has a snout and unusual eyes with very uncommon characteristics. Up to this day, biologists are still examining this mysterious sea creature but havent found one clue to what it can be. Although people are starting to think that this could be an animal from the Greek mythology. Interesting..... 2. Giant Pyrosome Divers in Australia have captured rare images of the Pyrostremma , or pyrosome sea creature off the coast of Tasmania. It is so rare that it has been dubbed as the 'Unicorn of the Sea' and can grow up to 30 metres long - the equivalent of two double-decker buses laid end-to-end. Its hollow, translucent, cylindrical body is made up of thousands of tiny clones called zooids that pull water through its tubes and feed on plankton before pushing the filtered water back out. (Say this while video is also playing) 3. The Flying Spaghetti Monster This unusual marine animal you are about to see was recently caught on camera near the coast of Angola.A team from BP was carrying out routine operations near an oil well, using a remotely operated underwater vehicle at a depth of 1325 metres, when they spotted the creature, which they nicknamed the flying spaghetti monster. Intrigued, they sent footage of it to Daniel Jones from the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton, UK. Here is the footage of the mysterious deep sea creature. 4. The Mysterious Jellyfish The video you are about to see shows a very strange deep sea creature that was unexpectedly floating into view on an oil ridge camera. The mysterious sea creature was spotted 5 thousand feet deep in the gulf of New Mexico 2 years ago but was just identified by a marine biologist. After so much research, The biologist then found out that this strange creature you are about to see is actually a giant deep sea jellyfish.Take a look at the footage... 5. The Mysterious Giant Squid Squids are not known to spend time at the surface and usually live deep underwater which are most commonly being discovered when they die and wash up on the beaches. In the video you are about to see, a the massive squid comes close to the submerged camera as a crowd of spectators marvel in complete awe. Could the legendary Giant squid squid actually exist? Who knows, but here is the footage. BG Music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b73t9SLss8k VIDEO LINKS: 1. The Corfu Island Creature 2. Giant Pyrosome: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EQGA_4BZ5s 3. Ocean WHIRLPOOL aka the Sea Tornado

00:14
Some footage of a whirlpool shot using an underwater camera A maelstrom is a large whirlpool, yes. It usually spans large areas or has great intensity. No, they are not tornadoes on water. A tornado ON water is called a waterspout. Tornadoes spin because of differences in air pressure inside the funnel which cause it to rotate. A whirlpool rotates due to changes in direction of the current/creation of cross-currents. As for destruction, I know that Channel 4 in Britain did a show called "Lethal Seas" which showed hat happens to a person caught in one of these. They used a mannequin to represent a human.

Lost City Of Atlantis Found In North Sea?

03:38
Support Us On Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/MysteryHistory We Are Also On Steemit: https://steemit.com/@mysteryhistory Divers from oil companies located within the north sea, have been discovering the remains of a drowned ancient city which once spanned from the UK all the way to Denmark. An ancient city so massive its suspected population has been estimated well into the tens of thousands. A team of climatologists, archaeologists and geophysicists, have now successfully mapped the area, which has revealed just how vast and expansive this once 'lost land once was, many specialists are now claiming this was once the 'real heartland' of Europe. This enormous civilization is now believed to have dated back to some 8000 years ago, and that the land mass was submerged over a period of several thousand years, a submersion which began some 20,000 years prior. Dr Richard Bates of the Department of Earth Sciences at St Andrews, who organised the Drowned Landscapes exhibit, covering the finds within the UK, says the data reveals the human story behind Doggerland, a now submerged city of the North Sea that was once larger than many modern European countries. Could these discoveries reveal doggerland as the real lost city of Atlantis? Several hypotheses have placed the sunken island of Atlantis within modern northern Europe, most noted among such researchers is Olaus Rudbeck. Who suspected that Doggerland, as well as Viking Bergen Island, which is thought to have been flooded by a megatsunami following the Storegga slide in 6100 BC, is the real location of Atlantis, a proposition he put forward all the way back in the 16 hundreds. Some have proposed the Celtic Shelf as a possible location, and that there is certainly links to Ireland. Many places have been put forward for the possible location of the sunken city throughout the years, yet none have revealed ruins worthy of such claims, many of these areas being too small to have housed such an enormous city. Doggerland however, fits the bill, not only could it turn out to be the largest ancient civilization found on earth, but it also rests in a possible location, based on historical research, for the city of Atlantis, it was submerged at one point in its history, and it is revealing astonishing ruins of a once great and presently unknown civilization. Dr Bates, a geophysicist, said: ‘Doggerland was the real heartland of Europe until sea levels rose to give us the UK coastline of today. ‘We have speculated for years on the lost land's existence from bones dredged by fishermen all over the North Sea, but it's only since working with oil companies in the last few years that we have been able to re-create what this lost land looked like. ‘When the data was first being processed, I thought it unlikely to give us any useful information, however as more area was covered, it revealed a vast and complex landscape. ‘We have now been able to model its flora and fauna, build up a picture of the ancient people that lived there, and begin to understand some of the dramatic events that subsequently changed the land, including the sea rising and a devastating tsunami.’ The research project is a collaboration between St Andrews and the Universities of Aberdeen, Birmingham, Dundee and Wales Trinity St David. http://thesecretlandofatlantis.weebly.com/

12 BIGGEST Legendary Sea Monsters

11:02
From the Kraken who’s waiting to be released! To the demon like merman with the body of a shark, here are 12 Biggest Legendary Sea Monsters Subscribe to American Eye NOW 6. Moby Dick This is the whale featured in one of the greatest American novels of all time by Herman Melville, Moby Dick or the Whale that bit off the captain, Ahab’s leg at the knee. This giant whale, is described by Ishmael as having a peculiar snow white wrinkled forehead with high pyramidical white hump. The rest of its body was striped with patches of white and gray. It was never mentioned exactly how large it was but this was claimed to be the largest sperm whale in existence. Sperm whales can grow up to 90 feet so we imagine maybe twice that size. A ferocious sperm whale was found off the coast of Chile, in the 1830’s that was rumored to have taken 20 harpoons to take her down. 5. Adaro Imagine mermaids being a little more demon-like and that’s basically what an adaro is. This creature is apart of mythology from the Solomon Islands and are described as a man will gills behind his ears, tail fins for feet, a horn like a shark's dorsal fin with a sword fish growing out of his head like see in this photo. Doesn’t sound too inviting! They’re supposedly very dangerous like you could imagine and they come from the evil side of a person’s spirit. They travel in tropical storms and along rainbows and prey upon unsuspecting fishermen. 4. Ogopogo Also known as the Naitaka, is a cryptid lake monster said to live in lake Okanagan, British Columbia and was spotted by the natives of the land, known as first nations since the 19th century. It’s described as being 40-50 feet long. A cryptozoologists thought that it’s possible that the tribes were misinterpreting common animals such groups of eels, otters, and floating logs. Another sighting occurred in 1926 by about 30 people who all saw the same exact thing, and believed it was a legendary creature. More people are just claiming that their logs again after a mysterious video was made public in 2011. Could all these mysterious sitings really just be logs. Would it be too farfetched to believe a prehistoric creature, undisturbed by man lives in an isolated lake? Ogopogo has become a hit in pop culture especially in the local area. 3. The Megalodon Now we know that megaladon’s do exist but the real question is, are there possibly a few still out there somewhere? Probably not but legends certainly seem to float around quite often that these monsters are still lurking the oceans, somewhere. If you’re not frightened by a giant, 60 foot shark we’re not exactly sure what will. This thing was roaming the seas about 23 to 2.6 million years ago with gaping jaw over large enough that a person could stand inside, like we see here. Each tooth is about the size of your hand and they had 276 of these. They could certainly swallow you whole in one gulp without even taking a bite.. This is considered to be the most powerful vertebrate predator in the history of all time. These guys ate whales for breakfast and sea cows for a snack. Fossils of whales show huge bites ripped out of them. This beast needed a massive amount of food to stay alive and it certainly got just that when it was able to spot a potential prey with also the most powerful bite of any known species. This thing was just as fierce as you could possibly imagine. 2. Aspidochelene This fabled sea creature is actually a giant sea turtle that appears as an island or whale at first glance. When sailors get too close to this creature, it then destroys their ship. There are a few cultures that refer to this creature including the Inuit of Greenland, that would tip over the boats into freezing waters, causing the sailors to die as well as the one in Chile, that just simply devours everything in it’s path. Also interestingly enough, the name of the island in the pacific called tortuga literally translates to turtle because the Spanish because of the shape of the island while coming in on boat.. This cargo ship you see here in this slightly photoshopped photo is in serious trouble and is heading straight for a massive turtle monster in the ocean! While exploring the oceans, it easy to see how the unknown could lead to legends especially to scare new shipmates. 1. Humanoid Mermaids These legendary creatures with the lower half of fish and the upper half of a beautiful woman, are thought to be a part of the lustful imagination of sailors who’ve spent too much time out on the sea. However, coming across one wasn’t such a good sign. They were often thought to be a bad omen and these creatures would distract sailors, forcing them to crash into a cliffside or rock. While it might sound like an interesting tale, there have been sightings of mermaids all around the world and date as far back as 2000 BC during the Babylonian times. Here we see the Babylonian deity known as Oannes, the fish god. As a part

Creatures of the Deep | Sea Spider

00:56
At 1,300 species, some sea spiders (an arthropod from the order Pycnogonida) can grow up to 3 feet long in the cold waters of Antarctica! Sea spiders in the Pacific are a lot smaller and are not related to terrestrial spiders. They live in seafloor habitats and feed on coral, sponges, and worms. ________________ We hope that you enjoyed the video!
