President urges state companies to buy up own shares

Wide of suspended Jakarta stock exchange 8. Close up of inactive board 9. Wide of woman sitting around empty trading booths STORYLINE: The Indonesian President said on Thursday that the financial situation in his country is "fully under control". Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono made the comment in shortly after his finance minister told the media that trading at the Jakarta stock exchange would resume on Friday. Meanwhile Yudhoyono also urged state companies on Thursday to buy up their own shares to quell a stampede of selling that sent the main stock index skidding more than 20 percent this week. Yudhoyono said it was his governments "priority" to protect people and "ensure that their needs, including food, daily needs, education, health and other public service needs were not disturbed." A trading freeze imposed on the Jakarta Stock Exchange on Wednesday in response to sudden, steep loses was to be lifted on Friday, said Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati. To enable the buyback measure the President proposed raising a 10 percent limit on share purchases to 20 percent and scrapping compulsory shareholder approval, said a senior capital market regulator. In another measure, regulatory authorities will lower a minimum reserve requirement for corporations, a step aimed at freeing up (b) billions of dollars in liquidity, said Miranda Gultom, deputy governor of Bank Indonesia. Indonesia has more than 100 state-owned corporations active in mining, utilities, telecommunications and commodities. The buy-back plan comes precisely as the government sought to divest commercial holdings and attract foreign capital. Among the main publicly traded government businesses are cement manufacturer PT Semen Gresik, telecommunications monopoly PT Telkom and PT Timah, the world's largest exporter of tin. Fears about the global financial crisis sent the benchmark JSX index tumbling more than 10 percent yesterday triggering a suspension. Thursday's session was cancelled before trading opened. Leaders in Indonesia, which suffered a devastating financial meltdown in the 1997-1998 Asian financial crisis, rushed to reassure investors that the fundamental economy remains strong. At the same time the Finance Ministry revised downward growth targets for 2009 to between 6.0 and 6.1 percent from 6.3 percent. Indonesia's market has tumbled 47 percent since the start of the year driven by falls in heavyweight commodities stocks, one of the sharpest drops in Asia. Other Asian markets were mixed overnight as investor enthusiasm over Wednesday's rate cuts around the world was tempered by ongoing fears about the strains in the credit markets and the prospect of a deep global recession, which would hit Asian exporters hard. Company Acquisition of Own Shares

BOOK REVIEW COMPANY ACQUISITION OF OWN SHARES 6th Edition By Nigel Dougherty and Anne Fairpo Jordan Publishing ISBN: 978 1 84661 245 9 www.jordanpublishing.co.uk OWN SHARE ACQUISITION BY COMPANIES: A COMPREHENSIVE ANALYSIS OF THE LAW An appreciation by Phillip Taylor MBE and Elizabeth Taylor of Richmond Green Chambers When a company -- i.e. a limited company -- buys its own shares, what are the implications, particularly the tax implications? This highly regarded legal text now published in a new sixth edition by Jordans, provides the practitioner with the answers to this and any number of other relevant questions that can and do arise from own share acquisition, including the fiscal consequences. The expert authors remind us that it was the Companies Act 2006 that effected significant changes within this area of English company law, thus making it easier for a limited company to purchase its own shares. Gift, purchase and forfeiture, say the authors in the Introduction, are the three main ways in which a company today may acquire its own shares. All three are examined in detail in this volume. The point is also made that own share purchase 'is but one species of own share acquisition, although perhaps the most important species.' The book, however, covers the whole area of own share acquisition, providing practical advice and clarifying a formidably wide range of difficult and sometimes confusing issues. This completely revised and updated new edition, examines all new developments pertaining to own share acquisition, including the key changes made by the Companies Act 2006, the taxation issues and other key commercial considerations. Those wishing to pursue further research will appreciate the lengthy section containing tables of cases, statutes, statutory instruments, EC materials and other materials, as well as a useful table of abbreviations. For added convenience and ease of use there's a detailed table of contents and a comprehensive index. Also note the invaluable inclusion of Appendices A to J, which contain the most important forms and precedents that you as a professional will need in your day to day practice. Whether you are a company lawyer, barrister, accountant or tax adviser, this book -- also available as an eBook -- will enhance your understanding of this complex area, while providing a ready reference to, in the words of the authors, 'the law relating to own share acquisitions, from the perspective of both company law and tax law'. The law is stated as at 1st February 2013, including the expected effect of the Finance Act 2013 -- and prior to, you will notice, the replacement of the Financial Services Authority (FSA) by the Financial Conduct Authority in April 2013.

Stock Buybacks: Why companies buy back they own shares?

05:59
Stock buyback: Why companies buyback their own shares? “Apple needs more buybacks!” I’m quoting Carl Icahn who said this for years now. But why companies do buy back they own shares? In ideal tax conditions, there are really only a few occasions when a company wants to buy back its own shares. The best example for stock buyback is, when Berkshire Hathaway, started to buy back its own shares. This happened when Warren Buffet felt that the company is severely undervalued, and instead of acquiring new business, the best way to increase shareholder value is to buy more of the existing busyness at current price. This happened usually when the Price to Book value ratio reached 1.2-1.3. If we see something like this, the chance of investing in that company and make money is high. The other reason why companies buy back they own shares is taxes. The capital gain tax is lower in almost any country than the dividend tax. That is why many companies use stock buyback as a method to return value to shareholders without forcing them to pay high taxes. This reason unfortunately makes sense, but in ideal tax conditions this would not matter. This mean that stock buyback because taxation is also a good practice. Now let’s see some other reasons. One of them is that many executives receive a big chunk of their income as bonuses, and these bonuses are linked to the stock price increase. This is done, by offering them call options at current price. If the price of the stock goes up, these options become valuable. If the stock price goes up a lot these options become really valuable. In this case executives have a vested interest to push up the stock price, even if it is temporary, to receive the bonuses. Many CEO do that, even if the company is far from undervalued. In this case because of the buyback the executives receive the bonuses, and they also can sell they own shares at higher prices. If you see something like this, sell with the insiders. Some companies bring this to an extreme. They borrow money, or issue bonds, to buy back they own shares. In normal circumstances this does not make any sense. Still, today this has become common practice. Well-known companies like Apple can issue bonds with close to zero interest rates. They issue bonds and buyback they shares. Apple also does this, so it does not need to repatriate its foreign profits, and do not need to pay taxes on that profit. If interest rates are artificially low because of the central bank, this can be a good idea. This is the case today. If interest rates go up, these companies made a good decision. In other cases to borrow money and buy back your own share it is really risky, and can lead to bankruptcy down the road. As a conclusion. In normal markets, there is only one good reason for companies to buy back they own shares, and this is when insiders feel that the company is undervalued. There is a bad reason when the company is buying back its own share: this is when the do the stock buyback so that executives receive bonuses, or to get out from the market. If you see this just sell with the insiders. The rest of the cases are because of tax avoidance or manipulated interest rates. The manipulation of interest rates by the central banks, and unequal taxation for capital gains and dividends, force companies to do things, that they would not do in normal circumstances. For example Apple is sitting on more than 100 billion dollars, and it is issuing bonds and buys back shares. In a normal market this does not make any sense. In an even tax condition Apple should return profits to shareholders in form of dividends, and it does not need any capital so it does not make sense to borrow money or issue bonds. With today’s artificial low interest rates, and tax laws, it makes perfect sense.

Berkshire Hathaway Buying Own Stock, As Well As Apple

00:30
According to Reuters, Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway is buying back its own stock, as well as stock in Apple. The stock buy-back is the first time the conglomerate has done so since 2012. Speaking on CNBC television, Buffett said investors remain better off owning a basket of stocks than 30-year bonds and other fixed-income securities, as U.S. businesses benefit from a strong economy. http://feeds.reuters.com/~r/reuters/topNews/~3/fdGaXgzJjXA/buffett-says-berkshire-buying-own-stock-and-more-of-apple-idUSKCN1LF1YM http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit Business using http://wochit.com

Understanding Short Selling | by Wall Street Survivor

What is short selling? Join our Fall Trading Contest and win $500 when you practice trading: https://www.wallstreetsurvivor.com/register?utm_source=Youtube&utm_medium=VideoLink&utm_campaign=FallContest Most people think of investing as buying a stock (or other asset) and making money when its price goes up - but it’s also possible to make a profit when a stock price goes down. This process is called short selling (or shorting). Short selling isn’t all peaches and cream. There are opportunities for high returns, but as usual, these come with high risks. The big risk here is that there is no limit to your losses. When you buy a stock, you can only lose the amount that you invested. But when you short, your losses are infinite because there is theoretically no end to how high a stock’s price can rise. Short selling isn’t for everyone. It requires a lot of time and research, and a desire for high risks and high returns. Short selling is primarily used for speculator looking to make a profit when the market goes down or investing looking to hedge their position. You probably read the title so it’s no secret anymore, we’re talking CO2 GRO (TSXV: GROW) (OTCQB: BLONF) today. The company based in Toronto, Canada and is listed on both the (TSXV: GROW) (OTCQB: BLONF). Before we start we want to give a quick shout out to Midas letter for the tip as we recently saw an interview with their CEO which gave us the idea to make a video about CO2 GRO (TSXV: GROW) (OTCQB: BLONF)! So, CO2 GRO (TSXV: GROW) (OTCQB: BLONF) is a Canadian based company that uses their patented advanced carbon dioxide technology to accelerate the growth of all value plants safely. The word you see up there is probably the most important word of this whole video. PATENTED. It’s super important for a company to have patents on their products so, that if anyone else would want to use it they’d have to pay for it, and the technology can’t be made again without their permission. Just as Warren Buffet says, A good business is like a strong castle with a deep moat around it. It’s super important for companies to protect their intellectual property in our time and CO2 GRO (TSXV: GROW) (OTCQB: BLONF) already knows that. So, this is a technology (or call it a product) that helps plants grow way faster through adding CO2 to the whole process, but no CO2 gets wasted (or at least not as much as it usually does). So, if we’re talking about the business fundamentals of CO2 GRO (TSXV: GROW) (OTCQB: BLONF), they are great. CO2 GRO (TSXV: GROW) (OTCQB: BLONF) basically can help companies grow twice as fast and the technology is literally their own and no one can touch it without having to pay them (if CO2 GRO (TSXV: GROW) (OTCQB: BLONF) even allows people to pay to use it). And the costs of using CO2 GRO (TSXV: GROW) (OTCQB: BLONF) 's product is also basically twice as low as the costs for using gashes CO2, that’s what CO2 GRO (TSXV: GROW) (OTCQB: BLONF) VP of business development, Sam Kanes stated in an interview, again, with Midas letter. So, bottom line for us is that CO2 GRO (TSXV: GROW) (OTCQB: BLONF) is a very promising company that has something very unique for sale, something that is protected by unbreachable moats, and something that this north-American industry, the 200-billion dollars flower industry that is spreading so fast all around the world, this industry will need this kind of products and technology and CO2 GRO (TSXV: GROW) (OTCQB: BLONF) provides it. CO2 GRO (TSXV: GROW) (OTCQB: BLONF) is a company with licenses, patents and soon even with US contracts, they have almost 2 million dollars to use for their strategy. Disclaimer 1: This is not official legal advice, results are not promised, and every individual should take their own decision based on their own experience and knowledge as results may differ between individuals. Disclaimer 2: By the time you're watching this video we may own shares of companies mentioned in this video, and do proclaim that this is NOT a speculative video. And please don’t forget to give us thumbs up if you want to Become A Better You. #CO2GROstock #MarijuanaStocks2019#PotStocks2019

For most of you, Warren Buffett needs no introduction: his track record speaks for itself. What makes Buffett unique among the world's richest men is that he made his fortune not by innovating in the tech industry or by inheriting billions, but by making successful stock picks for over half a century. Despite his immense fortune, Buffett retains the humbleness of his upbringing. Born right at the start of the Great Depression, Warren saw the great poverty of the 1930s firsthand. He was lucky enough to be born to a congressman, Howard Buffett, who could provide for his family despite the crisis. Nevertheless, Buffett learned to value money from an early age. In school his love of math and thriftiness naturally led to entrepreneurial ambitions. He sold Coca Cola to his fellow students, bought and operated pinball machines and eventually bought an entire farm to rent out. After graduating university he went to work for his favorite teacher, Benjamin Graham, the father of value investing. Using Graham's teachings, Buffett made many successful stock picks and outperformed the stock market by a factor of 4. Ironically, Warren's only bad investment was purchasing Berkshire Hathaway itself, which at the time was a struggling textile company. Buffett bought Berkshire just to fire its CEO and later regretted the move; indeed, he sold the company's textile business later on and used it purely as an investment vehicle. Today, Berkshire Hathaway is the world's largest conglomerate and Buffett is one of the richest men alive thanks to it. Chinese Stocks (2019) Top 3 Chinese Stocks to Buy in 2019

13:59
Chinese Stocks (2019) - Top 3 Chinese Stocks to Buy in 2019 What’s up family, my name is Antonio, and on this channel, we bring you the newest, hottest and most interesting investment opportunities possible, and because of that when we talk about Chinese stocks (2019), we don’t talk only about the most know Chinese stocks like $BABA, $JD and $BAIDU. Although those are some great Chinese companies that, in our opinion, are severely undervalued but if you have been following our work of the last few months than you know that we like to focus on the more interesting side of things, investments that not everybody is familiar with. Because they are better investments? Not specifically, but simply because everybody on YouTube, investing blogs and even the biggest media platforms always talk only about the obvious opportunities, but we like to take on a fight and try to find investments that are not as obvious as those ones. So in this video you’ll probably hear the names of 3 Chinese Stocks (2019) that you don’t know much about or possibly even nothing, so if I were you I’d really watch this video until the end because besides the exciting Chinese stocks we’ll go over at the end of the video we’ll share with you at what price we over here at BABY would start buying shares of those Chinese companies/Chinese stocks. More specifically we’ll be talking about the following Chinese stocks: Chinese Stocks (2019) - Top 3 Chinese Stocks to Buy #1: New Oriental Education & Technology Group Inc. (NYSE: EDU) Chinese Stocks (2019) - Top 3 Chinese Stocks to Buy #2: 58.com Inc (NYSE: WUBA) Chinese Stocks (2019) - Top 3 Chinese Stocks to Buy #3: Baozun Inc (NASDAQ: BZUN) Disclaimer 1: This is not official legal advice, results are not promised, and every individual should take their own decision based on their own experience and knowledge as results may differ between individuals. Disclaimer 2: By the time you're watching this video we may own shares of companies mentioned in this video and do proclaim that this is NOT a speculative video. WHAT IS A STOCK? 📈 3 COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS

08:48
What is a stock? This may seem like a simple questions, but this video teach you how to invest, and provide a stock definition. A stock is simply a portion of a company. By owning a stock in a company, you have a small piece of that company and are now a part owner of that company. Stock are also referred to as shares and investors as shareholders. 1) As a stock owner, you own a piece of that company. It doesn’t matter if that piece is 1/1000th of a percent, you are still a part-owner. In order to calculate how much of a company you own, simply divide your total equity, or the combined value of all of the stocks you hold, by the company’s market cap, or the total value of all of their stocks combined, which can be found online. For example, if I had 5 shares of Tesla and wanted to calculate what percentage of Tesla I owned, I would take their share price(~$306) multiply it by how many I have (5) and divide it by their market cap of about 51 billion and see that I would own about 1/33 millionth of Tesla. Now it's tempting to go out and brag to your friends about how you own a ridiculously small part of a huge company, but there are benefits to being part-owner of a company as well. First of all, you have rights to the earnings that the company generates, the management of the company will decide how these earnings will be distributed among shareholders. The most common way that earnings are shared is through dividends. Dividends are periodic payments (usually quarterly) from the company to the shareholders just for being a part-owner. Companies that offer dividends are usually well-established companies that are generating consistent earnings and wish to incentivise investors to stick around. Another benefit of being a shareholder of a company is that you may be entitled to voting rights in company decisions. Some companies issue voting class shares such as facebook, some issue non-voting class shares, and some such as google offer both. It is important to be aware of your voting power as a shareholder because you are able to influence the company and what choices it will make in the future. 2) Stock prices are solely determined by perceived value. As they are traded from person to person, the only reason that prices fluctuate is because one person thinks that this piece of a company is worth more or less than the other person does. For example, say person A bought a share of Company X for $5 but now some time has passed and person B comes along wants to buy a share. To person B this share is worth $10 because they believe in the future of this company. If A sells their share to B, then the $5 profit has gone to A. As you can see, the gains and losses are isolated to the investors and the company neither profits or takes any losses based on their stock price. The only time a company makes money through their stocks is during their IPO which I will get to very soon. 3) In general companies can be either public or private. A public company offers investors to purchase stocks of their company while private companies do not. A company may choose to be private or public for a variety of reasons but that is a topic for another video. Companies will go from private to public to generate money. This happens through an IPO or initial public offering. An IPO consists of a private company splitting ownership of their company into many pieces, known as stocks, and allowing the public to purchase a portion of these stocks over a stock exchange such as the New York Stock Exchange or NASDAQ. This can happen for a variety of reasons, some of which could be an upcoming project or future expansions. Now it is still possible to invest in a private company, however this is much less straightforward and often requires you to directly reach out to that company with an offer instead of simply purchasing a stock. SaaS Buyer Purchases Multi-Million Dollar Site & Shares Secrets to Beating All Cash Offers

30:15
If you’ve ever wanted to sell or purchase a SaaS business, listen to this Podcast because Nathan Singh has done both. He sold his own SaaS business in early 2017, only to turn around and buy a bigger SaaS business in December of the same year. He’s a former NASA Scientist who out-negotiated a full price, all cash buyer to win the deal and close on a multi-million dollar SaaS website. In this interview Nathan shares how he approached his listing review, initial seller conference call, due diligence, navigating the SBA process and the transition after the sale. Nathan also shares why he feels SaaS businesses are the right fit for him, and what other types of website business models he looked at during his search. Episode Highlights: Learn how to make a buyer love you - and want to sell to only you. Interviews should be conversational, friendly and flow naturally. Nathan shares his SaaS due diligence process for this business. Seller was meticulous using Asana and Dropbox with SOPs and a streamlined process. How to navigate the SBA process and the team he worked with. What was it like to take over a remote team that was loyal to the owner. How he took over the business, worked for three weeks and then went on a three week vacation. SaaS Businesses produce recurring revenue without product working capital. Seller worked part-time and Nathan is planning full-time to expand and growth the business. Nathan purchased this SaaS business with an SBA Loan. Tax returns matching the P&L is great, but not always the case for solopreneurs. Keeping the sale confidential is critical until the APA is signed.
