[Xcode Pro Tips] How to use Asset Catalogs to support Named Colors?

06:22
As you know, you are able to use Xcode Asset Catalogs to manage your images and other file-based resources since iOS 7. But from iOS 11 (with Xcode 9), Asset catalogs support named colors that can be used in source files and Interface Builder. You can create a color that is device-specific or the same on all devices. You give the color set a name and it appears in the color menu in Interface Builder. https://www.developerinsider.in/xcode-pro-tips-how-to-use-asset-catalogs-to-support-named-colors

2/5 Resizable Images for Custom iPhone Buttons using UIImage Create a stretchable UIImage that you can leverage for any size of UIButton that you want to add to your app. Part 1/5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=waKXlYQHGlA Part 2/5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdOUVC_wJmw Part 3/5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2AZ0JgKhQU Part 4/5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzttkcAQlK8 Part 5/5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=It3dsnGhhLo Using the Asset Catalog you can quickly convert a small image into an image that will stretch to any size for varying button widths. This technique is a great thing to know when you customize your app's user interface. The Asset Catalog is on the left side of Xcode in the Project Navigator and is called Images.xcassets You can drag and drop images into the asset catalog or you can import them from your Xcode project. Warning: Don't add images to the Asset Catalog if you're using Cocos2d, it won't work right. How to Use Named Colors in iOS 11[COLOR SETS]

18:45
Learn how to use Named Colors or Color Sets inside of Xcode 9. This new feature is available only in iOS 11 and lets you manage all your app colours much much more easily. You can reference Named Colors from the storyboard or from code. But because you know that I hate storyboards, we are going to build an example project in code. Along the way you will get to know where I love to get my theme templates and about a cool site that transforms hex colours to Swift code. First you I will show you how we used to do this the old and hard way. But now with the help of Color Sets you can make this super fun and easy. In the next video you will find out how to customize your Xcode: https://youtu.be/GJwoPARBQQY You can find all the resources for this video here: https://store.rebeloper.com/youtube-channel-resources ____________________________________________________________________ Get in touch: [email protected] SUBSCRIBE to Code Better and Get More App Downloads! https://www.youtube.com/rebeloper/?sub_confirmation=1 My Blog: https://rebeloper.com/news Follow me on Instagram! https://www.instagram.com/rebeloper
