Disrespected for Wearing a Hijab

Comment, like, share this story. It is hard and scary enough to start at a new school, and even harder when you're just entering high school, but for Ammaarah it was tougher still - she was the only girl in her school who wore a hijab. She was scared, and nervous, and really felt like she stood out - just different - and she was afraid that people would question her, or look at her strangely. But, to her surprise and delight, they didn't. Everyone seemed to accept her, and she started to feel comfortable. Later in the year, she was sitting in class and just minding her own business, and a small group of boys were in the corner playing truth or dare. One of the boys came up behind her and ripped her hijab off of her head. He showed no respect for her beliefs or how traumatic the experience would be for her. To them it was a hat or a scarf. To her, it protected her modesty. She froze - so shocked and embarrassed, but also very upset that her hijab, which was so important to her, had been snatched away. She felt so uncomfortable, so upset, and so she took her jacket off and covered her hair - then ran toward the door to get a teacher or help from someone. BUT, those bullies blocked her path, they weren't done yet, and they grabbed her and tried to pull the blazer off her head. They chanted "Let us see your hair! Let us see your hair!" with hate and discrimination in their hearts. While this might have seemed like a prank to the boys, this was not a prank. It was serious bullying and a show of disrespect towards this 16 year old girl. The fear was very real to her. She felt attacked, wanted to cry, but just begged them to leave her alone and somehow managed to get to the door right when the teacher arrived. She told the teacher what happened, and how upset she was that people had seen her hair - it was part of her beliefs and very important to her - she didn't know what to do. She ran to the bathroom and was freaking out, wanted to call her dad, wanted to run away, but she took a few deep breathes and calmed herself down, then put her hijab back on and covered her hair. When she got back to the classroom all the students were gone except for the boys who had bullied her. The teacher was scolding them, well, actually she was yelling and screaming at them. The boys looked like they were about to cry, and Ammaarah felt that maybe they had learned their lesson. After a little while everyone seemed to forget about that moment, and Ammaarah made friends and felt comfortable again. Perhaps those boys didn't know how important it was to Ammaarah to cover her hair and wear her hijab, or perhaps they did and they just didn't like that she was different, or believed differently, but either way, the one thing her classmates didn't forget was how mean and ignorant those boys were and how they disrespected her. WATCH ME DRAW A CHIBI HIJABI - ANIME HIJABI CARTOON GIRL

05:20
Asalamualaikum everyone! In today's video I'm going to share how I draw an anime hijabi cartoon girl. During my middle school and high school years, I used to have sketchbooks filled with anime drawings so this definitely takes me back :D . For those of you who are learning to draw, I encourage you to keep on practicing your craft, because you can only improve from this point. Learning how to draw and be creative takes time and effort, and these skills can actually come in handy throughout your lifetime. -XOXO Muska :) WEBSITE: http://muskajahan.com INSTAGRAM: @MUSKAJAHAN

10 People Who NAILED Dressing Up Like CARTOON CHARACTERS

12:07
10 Talented girls who dressed up like your favorite cartoon characters! Subscribe: https://goo.gl/cv6b96 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Looking exactly like cartoon characters is hard work, but these people managed to pull it off! From characters from “The Simpsons” and “Scooby Doo,” to “Mulan,” “Alice in Wonderland,” and our favorite Disney sisters, Elsa and Anna from “Frozen,” these are some of the best cosplayers we have ever seen! Let’s start with our favorites, Elsa and Anna from “Frozen.” These two cosplayers are sisters in real life and they have awesome cosplay skills. You really need to check out their Elsa and Anna look! They even managed to find a Kristoff lookalike and to recreate some pretty impressive “Frozen” scenes. Both, Mulan and Alice from “Alice in Wonderland” were cosplayed by the same person. Along with her amazing makeup skills, she incorporated her hijab into her cosplays and created amazing characters while also educating people to ignore the stereotypes of women wearing a hijab. One of the most unique cosplay looks we managed to find is definitely the three women who managed to totally pull off the look of Marge, Patty, and Selma from “The Simpsons.” They even painted their skin yellow and put on some really impressive wigs! And we can’t forget about the impressive cosplay of Daphne from “Scooby Doo!” Although the award for the best Daphne will always belong to Sarah Michelle Gellar, this version of Daphne is just as detailed as the original. Make sure to watch this video to see the best cosplayers who dressed up like their favorite characters from “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “The Little Mermaid,” and “Moana.” Don’t forget to subscribe to our channel and give this video a thumbs up! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our Social Media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheThingscom/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For more videos and articles visit: http://www.thethings.com/

I Am NOT A Terrorist! - Mean Kids At School

Comment, like, share this story. It's hard to feel different, and to dress differently - to wear a burka or a hajib - and these days, with so much fear about terrorism - it has become hard sometimes to be a Muslim. There is a lot of discrimination, and kids at school can often be the meanest, treating others badly, cursing and swearing at them, calling them names, bullying them, beating them up, even calling them terrorists. Aneeka, a student, was a victim to all of this - she was called names, left out of sports, even kicked and laughed at in school - all because of her religion, because she follows the Islamic faith. But Aneeka is a special kid - a girl with only love and peace in her heart, and that love brings the right kind of friends, and finally, the right kind of acceptance and understanding. I Got "The Talk" in School

By Sydney | Ready to "wear it out loud?” Merch store open, SHOP NOW: http://bit.ly/storybooth-merch | Subscribe: http://bit.ly/sub2storybooth | Record your story @ https://storybooth.com or our iPhone app for a chance to get animated. Comment, like, share this story. Sydney was in her fifth grade class having the usual amazing time when the teacher suddenly announced that "today, we are going to talk about periods, the parts of the body and the reproductive system." Can you imagine? A pop up Sex Ed class? She was like , "Uhm, WHAAAT?!?!?, eewwww...gross!" Talk about instant anxiety and panic attack!. The boys from her class went into another classroom across the hall and thank goodness for that because it would be so embarrassing to talk about girl and boy private parts and stuff right in front of each other. She just wanted to die! It was a talk about the reproductive system, human anatomy and physiology. This was "The Talk", the birds and the bees talk gone wrong!. This was't a private awkward talk with parents, Mom or Dad, this was in front of everyone! All the girls in the 5th grade were crammed inside her classroom while all the boys in the 5th grade were crammed in the classroom across the hall. It was so tight in there that she could barely breathe. And it got worse... The teacher pointed to parts of a picture saying, "this is a girl's vagina.....everybody say 'VAGINA'"! Guess who was the loudest person in the packed classroom? Sydney was yelling "VAGINA!" as loud as she could and everybody looked at her like she was crazy, the weirdest person in the world. Then the unthinkable happened, the teacher made the students say "penis" out loud but this time Sydney kept her mouth shut. This was anatomy that she wanted nothing to do with...And she will never be able to "unsee" those visuals - pictures are worth a thousand words. OMG! The teacher passed around pads to all the girls letting them know she had a stock of pads should they ever have their period and need one. Meanwhile Sydney could hear the boys across the hall laughing and screaming and to her, that was just so uncool! "So immature!", she said. At the end, all the girls got samples of pads and panty liners. The boys got deodorant and gum. She just couldn't believe it! It turned out that the first sex education class talking about puberty, a vag and a penis wasn't so bad after all. Embarrassing? TOTALLY! But everyone share that embarrassment. It's one storytime, she will never forget. It turned out to be a really funny story...Hilarious! Probably the first "embarrassing period story of her life."

Deaf in a Hearing World

Comment, like, share this story. It's hard enough to go from middle school to high school, even harder when you are going to a brand new school, but imagine doing all of that AND being deaf - the only deaf student in the school. That's what Jocelyn was going through when she entered 9th grade - alone in a big new school, without a friend, and feeling so out of place being a deaf person in a hearing world. Her choclear implants ASL helped her to hear, just a bit, but they also looked strange to the other kids. She didn't know anyone, had no friends there, and nobody seemed to care about her, or noticed that she was all alone. In fact, because she was deaf, the other kids ignored her, or looked at her strangely and whispered to each other. This all made her feel even more alone, more different. She felt so isolated. Her deafness seemed to be holding her back and and stopped students from getting close to her in a way she should be just like any other kid. Then, one day in poetry class, a boy sitting in front of her passed her a note. She had never gotten a note before. He asked her is she wanted a friend. She could hardly believe it, hardly trust it - but there he was, asking, sincere. She said yes and, eventually, they became best friends! He spoke to her as if she wasn't deaf, and that made her so happy. He made her feel like she belonged. He treated her just like any other hearing person. And they did what any other friends would do, went to the Mall, to Starbucks, and the library to study and draw. He began to experience a day though a deaf person's eyes. Now they are always hanging out together. And he taught Jocelyn the true meaning of friendship, which was the greatest gift she had ever received. It changed her, brought her back to life, and for that, Jocelyn will always be thankful and grateful. Everyone's got a story....we want to hear yours! Comment, like, share this story. Jennifer had always been a loner, and maybe not so much by choice, but that's the way it had been for along time. And of course, she was lonely, and wanted to be popular, to fit in, have friends, but it just never worked out that way. Until one day in school, in her class, another student, one of the most popular girls in school, asked if she wanted to work on a project with her, a presentation on road safety that they would present together in front of the whole school. Jennifer was so excited, not only would she be working with someone and not all alone, but, it was with the most popular girl in school! They got to work right away, but, right away this girl made excuses and asked Jennifer to do the work, all of it. That hardly bothered her, they would still be presenting together and that was what mattered! On the day of the assembly Jennifer got everything ready up on stage, hooked up her computer and set up the presentation and that's when it happened - this mean girl told her she had been replaced! She bumped Jennifer off the stage and gave the presentation by herself. Jennifer was ashamed, embarrassed, heartbroken and so mad. She said to herself, "That mean girl stole my work!" The presentation Jennifer worked on was so good though that it was chosen to be presented at all the schools all around them - a huge honor. And that's when KARMA stepped in to get even! Jennifer had the only copy of the presentation, on her computer, and what do you think she did? Do you think she gave her the computer to use at the other schools? No way! And guess what happened, when the truth came out, the mean girl made a fool of herself, she lost it in from of everyone. Not only that, Jennifer was in the limelight, and people noticed her and wanted to be with her. Karma brought justice! Instant Karma, Instant Justice! The bully who tricked her got what she deserved. By Christian | Ready to "wear it out loud?” Merch store open, SHOP NOW: http://bit.ly/storybooth-merch | Subscribe: http://bit.ly/sub2storybooth | Record your story @ https://storybooth.com or our iPhone app for a chance to get animated. Comment, like, share this story. Christian was a guy who lived in Venezuela. There was this girl in his school who we will call "Stephanie" for the purposes of this story. Stephanie was a pretty girl who had the reputation of dating and then dumping lots of guys for no apparent reason. Even though he heard all of these rumors, Christian still wanted to get to know her, she he did. Quickly they went from being friends to Stephanie asking Christian to be her boyfriend. "She just asked me to be her boyfriend," he thought.."WOW!" He said yes and they began dating. As a couple, boyfriend and girlfriend, they did romantic things like kissing, selfie kisses, and she would give him chocolates, presents and he really appreciate those gestures of love and kindness. He was in love. Things stated getting fishy when he saw a photo of her with another guy. This boy looked 16 to 18 years old. Christian confronted her and asked her who the guy in the pictures was. Stephanie lied and told Christian it was her brother. To cover her tracks, she showed Christian a room in her house she claimed was her brother''s room, the boy in the picture. Everything went downhill when Christian went on Summer vacation to Madeira. There he went onto his Facebook, scrolled up through his timeline when he saw more pictures of Stephanie with the same older guy she claimed was her brother. So investigating further, he scrolled through her profile and photos and found very incriminating photos of Stephanie kissing this guy on the lips. Christian was in complete shock. "My girlfriend lied cheated and betrayed me" he thought. She is still lying and still cheating on me. I can't trust her anymore. Finding even more photos that were romantic between she and this older guy, Christian was crushed, sad, disappointed, felt betrayed and angry. He thought, "she dumped me over some other guy." She was his girlfriend and it hurt that she was dishonest and betrayed him. He found out in such a hurtful way with evidence he could see for himself. Dealing with his feelings for the rest of his vacation, he eventually came home and confronted his girlfriend again. "You cheated on me" he told her with anger, then walked away from her. A day passed and the next morning Stephanie came up to Christian and apologized with crying, tears, remorse and regret. She even tried to become friends but he decided what she did was not forgivable and chose not to forgive her. Christian decided that someone had to help her understand the consequences of her actions, her dishonest actions, it should be him. We love this true story. The Girl From Hell Gachaverse S1 E1

08:49
The Girl From Hell Gachaverse S1 E1 My first mini movie :D How was it? Imagine anime girl cosplay makeup, but more wearable for an everyday kind of basis! I hope you find my tips and tricks helpful! c: I spent a LOT of time editing this video, and considering that I'm a novice in editing and don't have money for expensive equipment, I hope you enjoy the effort I put into it anyways! ~ Oh, I also briefly explain why I take long breaks from youtube! The real reason is quite personal and difficult to explain, but thank you for being so understanding! ^x^ All products are listed in the video, but if you have any questions or comments feel free to tell me! Like, the most embarrassing thing you could think to do, and in front of the person you might least want to do it in front of? Akeila has. Her camp spent a day at six Flags, the amusement park, which is fun, except for the fact that Akeila hates scary rides and Roller Coasters, hates them. So, while the rest of the class, and her sister, and her friends are looking forward to the ride of their lives, Akeila sees the roller coaster and just gasps - not for her. But, not one to spoil the fun, she grabs a lemonade and gets on line with her friends, along line, and a big lemonade and then she's on the ride, sitting next tot he cutest boy at camp, scared to death, and needing, very very badly, to pee. Can you guess what happens? this storytime storybooth story is pretty awful, and definitely really embarrassing. She pees, in her pants, on-ride, next to the cute boy. Yes, it's true. Shame, shame shame - a "roller coaster ride next to a cute guy gone wrong / epic fail!" "I peed my pants!" is NEVER something you want to say let alone say it in front of people with your pants all wet from your pee. It's likely the most embarrassing moment of your life - then you'll likely have the most embarrassing story of your life - the ultimate! An Older Boy Took Advantage Of Me

Comment, like, share this story. Joslynn had a big extended family with step brothers and sisters, step aunts and cousins, grandparents, the whole family tree was full of step relatives. She spent a lot of time with her cousins and step cousins at their house. On one visit she was watching tv with her step-cousins while the adults were all outside grilling barbecue for dinner - two young girls and an older boy. After watching for a while the two young girls went off to play, leaving her alone with the eldest boy. He moved closer to her on the couch and then reached over and kind of put his arm around her. It was a little weird, and he started telling her how he thought she was so cool and so beautiful and things like that. Josylynn was only nine years old at the time and this boy was much older than her. His compliments made her so uncomfortable, and his arm around her too, but she just sat there, not knowing what to do, and simply said, in a weak voice "umm, thanks. I guess." But that wasn't the most uncomfortable or weirdest part. After a few more strange compliments, he actually leaned in and kissed her - a real kiss - not at all for a nine-year-old. And, being only nine, and being rather shy AND very freaked out, she just sat there. She should have said something, or gone right away to an adult and told them what had just happened, but she was scared, confused, and afraid, and, even though she felt weak about it, she didn't do anything or tell anyone. Even after she got home, and after some time had passed, still, she didn't tell her mom about it. She couldn't explain quite why, but she felt like if she told her mother that she would be disgusted by it, that she wouldn't love her anymore and that ultimately she would just blame Joslynn for not doing anything about it right then and there when it happened. So, she just kept it to herself, a secret. But, maybe because she didn't tell her Mom right away, it got harder and harder to find the right time to come clean and let her secret out, and because of that, it continued - that boy kept taking advantage of her in a way that she did not want him to. The next time she went to her step aunt's house she was playing outside with the younger girls, then went inside to use the bathroom. While she was washing her hands that older boy step cousin stepped into the bathroom. She got anxiety as it got a little scary for her because she didn't feel safe. He apologized for barging in, BUT, he didn't leave. In fact, he stepped closer to her, too close, and she had to put her hands up and push against his chest, trying to stop him from coming closer, but he just kept pushing into her. She was scared, and told him "No, I don't want to." But he pushed her hands away, told her to relax, that it was okay, that she wouldn't get in trouble. He closed the door then, and kissed her again, and made her do things with him that she really didn't want to do. But she couldn't stop him, was too scared at that moment. This boy took real advantage of her. This just because one of those true stories she heard about but never wanted to be a part of. Four years have passed and now Joslynn is thirteen years old. Her mother and stepfather have separated, and so, thankfully, she never has to see those step cousins or that awful boy again. Even though she was happy that those terrible things were behind her, the guilt and shame and dark feelings were all still there - like somehow the whole thing was her fault and that she would have to be alone with those feelings her whole life. It was always on her mind though, and so hard to keep secret and buried inside, and so, a few months ago when she was out to lunch with her mother, she decided to tell her mother, to share the secret once and for all. And, even though she was terrified and ashamed and embarrassed, she told her Mom everything that had happened. And her mom supported her in a big way, loving her no matter what. The Me Too Movement and Times Up Movement all address the issues brought forth in this story. I Lost My Hair

02:31
By Caitlin - Age 13 | Ready to "wear it out loud?” Merch store open, SHOP NOW: http://bit.ly/storybooth-merch | Subscribe: http://bit.ly/sub2storybooth | Record your story @ https://storybooth.com or our iPhone app for a chance to get animated. Comment, like, share this story. Caitlin was born with a condition called Alopecia, which basically means that her hair follicles (the roots) didn't quite work right and she never grew any hair on her head. She didn't really have hair loss, her hair literally never grew in the first place. This is a story time about a girl with no hair. There are different types of Alopecia - one kind where your hair grows back and then falls out again, and one kind where it doesn't grow in at all. Caitlin had the kind where it doesn't grow in at all, and so, growing up, she was bald. "I've totally lost my hair, my hair is gone," she thought. Hair loss is a really tough thing to deal with in our society especially at such a young age. Balding, makes you different as a kid when all you want to do is fit in. It was hard having to go through her childhood with no hair. She had to wear wigs, which she didn't like, and when she would be hanging out with her friends and they would say, "lets get our hair done" and she would be really sad because she would be missing out. In school, people were mean to her as well as being her friends. People would pull off her wig in front of everyone and laugh at her, her bald head. Why were kids so mean? Mean girls, mean boys. and mean people would stare at her. They would be pointing, staring, laughing. It made her so sad, depressed and hurt her self esteem. She thought, "I can't believe they pulled off my wig. Why is everyone staring at me? I lost my hair, thats all." She knew she looked different than other people but she was still a person just like everyone else. But all was ultimately okay as Caitlin learned that with difficult things, often come good things. She could not and did not get head lice. Kids in her school class got head lice and she never had to even get checked, because she had no hair! Thats a benefit to being bald as a kid. She never had to get treated for head lice, she never had head lice because she just did not have hair. She laughs about it as it's one of the things being bald as a kid has over kids with hair. She learned about the Rapunzel Foundation, who like Locks of Love, takes in donated hair from people who donate their hair, in order to make wigs for people. A wig is made from real human hair so it looks as real as a wig can and helps people feel better about themselves. Then some amazing happened...When Caitlin turned 10, her hair started to grow!!! It continued to grow and when it was long enough, she got hair extensions and finally had hair! LONG hair. No longer a balk kid, she felt more like everyone else. As her hair continued to grow, she got rid of the extensions in her hair got it hair trimmed / styled and now looks and feels like everyone else with a full head of hair. It was a dream come true for her. She had her own head of hair and as a result was so happy and so confident! "I lost my hair but now I have a full head of hair. I am lucky, grateful and so happy." Alopecia made the first part Caitlin's life tough but it also helped her see the world in a way that many others never will. When you get something everyone else has that you never have, like sight, hearing or hair, you can appreciate it an a very different level. Being grateful in a very special and unique way.
