English Travel Vocabulary: Planning a Trip

07:08
http://www.engvid.com Are you going to travel? Make sure you're prepared with the vocabulary you will need for your business trip or vacation. In this lesson, I'll teach you the English vocabulary you must know for travel -- from preparing your travel itinerary and making reservations, to getting your visas and boarding your flight. It is essential that you know this basic English travel vocabulary, because English is an international language. ESL students who are studying abroad will find these words very helpful. Even if you are not travelling to an English-speaking country, as a tourist, you will need to communicate with people at the airport, and at tourist attractions. Watch this lesson, take the quiz, and have a safe trip! http://www.engvid.com/english-travel-vocabulary-planning-a-trip/ TRANSCRIPT Hi. Welcome again to www.engvid.com. My name is Adam. Today, I'm talking about a very interesting topic because, for example, in Toronto right now, it's very, very cold. I'm thinking about travelling; I would love to go somewhere hot to get away from this winter. So, when I travel, I have, of course, to make travel arrangements. So here, we have a list of words, a list of things that you must think about before you go on a trip to a different country. We're going to go over each of these. We're going to start with "booking" and "reservation". Now, many people think that this is more or less the same, which it is. To book something or to reserve something means to keep a place, to keep your place. You book a flight, you book a hotel room. Generally speaking, you make a reservation at a restaurant; you make a booking with a travel agency or with a hotel, with accommodations, any type of accommodation. Speaking of, accommodations are hotel, motel, hostel, B&B, bed and breakfast; all kinds of accommodations. Make sure you have a booking before you go, so your place is safe, it's kept for you. When you arrive, it's all good. Next, when you're at your destination, the place you're going to, you might want to "rent" a car. Okay? Sorry, this is accommodation. One thing I wanted to also make sure - "accommodations", without the "s", "accommodation" means something different. Okay? "Accommodations" is where you're going to sleep. And you might want to "rent" a car. You can also "hire" a car. Means the same thing. British people generally use "hire" more, North Americans use "rent" more often. Next, you have to think about your "baggage". Suitcase, luggage, bags, anything you're carrying with you. You might have "check-in baggage". Sorry, I don't know if you can see this guy. "Check-in baggage" and "carry-on baggage". "Check-in baggage" means you give it to the airline, they put it under the plane, you pick it up at your destination. "Carry-on" means you carry on, so you carry it on your shoulder on to the plane. Okay? In your carry-on, you have to be careful, it has to be small. You can't have liquids because of security and all that stuff. So things that you can't put in your carry-on, you must put in your check-in baggage and give to the airline. Next, when you get to the airport, assuming you're flying, you will have to do a few things that concern the word "boarding". Before you board your plane, get on your plane - you will get a boarding pass that lets you pass through security and into the airport. On the boarding pass, you will see your "boarding time", this is when you get on the plane and your "boarding gate", the place in the airport where you're going to get on your plane before takeoff. Okay? We can also use this for a train. You board a train, you get a boarding pass with a boarding time, and generally a boarding platform. Okay? So "boarding", getting on your vehicle, whatever vehicle that might be. You will also generally need to get a "visa" to many countries. Now, a "visa" is something that you use to get into a country, it gives you permission to stay in that country. But be aware: many places, if you're going through another country... So, for example: I'm going to country "C" via country "B". "Via" means by way of or through. So I might need a "transit visa", means I can go there, switch planes and keep going on my journey. But I'm still in another country, I need a transit visa. Excuse me. Also, make sure you're prepared to spend money as soon as you get to your destination. If you're going to a different country, that country will but using a different "currency", type of money. In Canada, we have Canadian dollar. America has American dollar. Okay? For things like that. In Europe, you need the euro. So make sure you have some of the currency before you go, or purchase it at the airport or at the destination you're going to.

Why You Should Travel More, And Travel Often

03:50
Gerard herewith a quick update on our last day of travels in Phuket, Thailand. My brother Chris and I have spent the last 10 days relaxing with a nice change of scenery, working on our internet business and catching up with some of our incredible SFM community members who happened to be in the area at the same time... We've been to Thailand a few times now and it never ceases to amaze me the vast difference in culture compared to our home in Perth, Western Australia, which is the reason I wanted to talk to you about the whole concept of travelling in this email. I really do believe that we all should travel more... Exposure to different cultures gives you a better perspective, and makes you question things that your culture entails, and if there are some things you need to change. We often feel like we’re bound to all the things around us- a job, money, society. In reality, we’re the ones keeping ourselves tied down to these things. Traveling opens our eyes to many possibilities, and teaches us that we can get up and leave if something bogs us down, and that nothing can control us if we don’t let it. Three years ago, when I was working as an accountant I decided I was going to travel for 8 weeks around Europe for the very first time. The incredible experience gave me a catalyst for change... it helped me realise that I needed to start my very own business... More specifically, I needed to create a lifestyle based business. That is when I started looking for opportunities and thankfully stumbled across The Six Figure Mentors. Their messaging was that you really could have it all... More money, more lifestyle, more FREEDOM. Fast forward to today and that's exactly what we have created. I travel the world full-time with my team and we enjoy nothing more than to help others do the same. So the whole point of this email (besides the obvious fact that you should join our SFM community if you're looking for a vehicle for freedom), is that you should take some time to travel more, and travel often... Save some money, book in a vacation and open your mind to new experiences... Be more adventurous, take a more risks and the path to success will always reveal itself! Finally, it’s important to make memories, because it is memories that make life more meaningful. I hope you enjoy today's video message. As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this topic. Be Bold, Take Action & Make it Happen, Gerard

10 Little-Known Tricks for Perfect Sleep on a Flight

08:52
How to sleep easily on a plane? People who can easily fall asleep on a plane are among the lucky few because most of us aren’t able to doze off in a cramped space, sitting in such an uncomfortable position and surrounded by total strangers. What if we told you there are some simple tricks that can help you catch some Z’s on board? Who knew that flying on a Tuesday or keeping your seat belt fastened could actually make a difference? TIMESTAMPS Night is the best time for a flight 0:34 The best days to fly are Tuesdays and Wednesdays 1:27 The perfect seat is by the window 2:16 Tilt your seat back to the max 3:17 Clothes should be warm and comfortable 3:58 Fasten your seat belt over your clothes 4:43 Get yourself some sleeping accessories 5:25 Control the scents around you 6:05 Put your gadgets away 6:59 Food and drinks 7:34 SUMMARY - It’s great if you can pick a flight for the time you usually sleep at. Wake up 2-3 hours earlier on the day of your flight to help you fall asleep faster on board later on. - If you want fewer passengers and more space, pick the most unpopular days for booking flights: Tuesdays and Wednesdays, as a rule. You might even get up to 3 seats to yourself! - Always try to pick a window seat to rest your head on the wall and not be bothered by your neighbor wanting to get up to go to the bathroom. If you normally sleep on your left side, aim for seat A. If your right side is your preferred sleeping position, pick the window seat on the opposite side of the plane. - If you want good quality sleep in the cabin, adjust your seat as far back as it’ll go. Just make sure the person behind you doesn’t mind. - To have a sound nap onboard, you should wear loose clothes made of natural materials that don’t constrict your movements. If your airline doesn’t provide blankets, take a jacket and warm socks too. - A seat belt fastened over your clothes or blanket won’t make your sleep more comfortable, but it will prevent flight attendants from waking you up if the plane experiences turbulence. - Light and noise are the main culprits that keep you from getting needed shuteye. So this answer might be obvious: use a sleeping mask and earplugs! - You can control the scents in your immediate surrounding. Just sprinkle the head rest or your travel pillow with some lavender oil or any other essential oil you like. - Don’t watch movies on your phone, tablet, or laptop because the blue light of the screen wakes your brain up. Most sleep experts say you should put away all your electronics at least half an hour, or, better yet, an hour before you plan on dozing off. - If you want to be fast asleep, don’t overeat onboard. The food should be light and healthy, while the best drink option is tea (the herbal variety is perfect) or just plain water. Have your own tricks to share? TRIP REPORT | SWISS A220 Business Class | Zurich to Berlin | My FAVORITE Regional Aircraft (CS100)!

14:18
Trip Report of my SWISS Airbus A220-100 (ex CS100) flight from Zurich to Berlin in Business Class. This was the second flight of the year 2019. After spending some time in the new Business Lounge A at Zurich Airport it was time to catch my flight back home to Berlin Tegel. I got an aircraft change (again) but this time it was positive :D From an Airbus A220-300 (which I already flew several times (Air Baltic)) to an A220-100 - the smaller version of my favorite regional aircraft. I was to first passenger to board and was amazed by the bright and modern cabin. The aircraft comes in a 2-3 seat configuration however in Business Class you will always have a free seat next to you (1-2). Snow was falling outside so de-icing was needed before departure causing our 1 hour delayed departure. I had no problem with it - I just enjoyed the show (check out the full wing view videos on my channel)! After a very powerful short takeoff the service was about to begin. On this 1 hour 20 minute long flight Swiss served a cold meal and a wide selection of drinks. The salmon fillet was tasty and the potato salad went great with it. On the side they served two kinds of cheese with a fresh bun and also a nice dessert. After the meal service was finished we already started the descent into Berlin Tegel Airport. Exchanged a few words with the crew and the pilots and then headed back home after a great flying day. I am already looking forward to my next Swiss Business Class flights (within Europe) on my birthday in May :D Airline/Aircraft: Swiss Airbus A220-100 (ex CS100) HB-JBH Flight Nr./Route: LX968 from Zurich to Berlin Tegel Flight time/Trip Date: 1h14mins (Early January 2019) Seat: 2F in Business Class. While we were in Chennai, Sam and I stayed at a 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom luxury apartment in Ganapathy Colony locality in the city center. It’s located in a very nice building with a gate, a car park, and a doorman who gives you your key when you check in. Staying cool in Chennai is key, as it was still 90 degrees even at 4 a.m. during the winter! I took the air-conditioned elevator up to our apartment, which was unit A3 on the third floor. Inside, it’s very modern and spacious, with a nice couch, a small table, and TV in the living room. Just off the living room is a nice dresser that you can use for storage and across from that is the dining room, which contains a table, a closet, an ironing board, and a refrigerator. One of the best things about this apartment is that there is air conditioning in each room, which makes the hot, sweltering weather much more manageable. Next, I give you a look at the master bedroom, which is spacious and contains a big, comfortable queen-sized bed with nice pillows and tons of drawer and closet space for your things, which makes this a great place to spend multiple nights. There’s also a small workstation and a tiny terrace where you can open the windows. It’s my favorite master bedroom of the entire trip so far! Off the master bathroom is a standard Indian bathroom. The great thing about this bathroom compared to the other ones we’ve had in India is that this one has a shower curtain, so you don’t get water all over the rest of the bathroom when you take a shower! There’s also a water heater, a sink with an extended faucet, and a medicine cabinet. The second bedroom is smaller, with a queen-sized, lots of closet space, and a small table where you can work. Just off the bedroom is another standard Indian bathroom that’s actually larger than the one for the master bedroom, and has a door that opens to the living room. Next up is the very modern kitchen, with a stovetop, double sink, cabinets filled with cups and bowls, a water purifier, a microwave, and a washing machine. It’s easily my favorite kitchen we’ve had on our trip so far! Off the kitchen is a nice, little terrace, and outside the kitchen is a small sink where you can wash your hands. Religious hand-washing is essential when you come to India. You have to keep your hands clean! As we wrap up the tour, I take a quick look back at my quick stay in Chennai, including the beautiful sites and attractions we visited as well as the delicious and spicy food we had there, especially the seafood. But now it’s time to look forward to Kolkata! If you liked this luxury apartment tour in Chennai, please give this video a thumbs up and leave me a comment below. 11 Amazing Things To Do in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

07:33
Get more things to do in Kuala Lumpur, and travel tips: http://migrationology.com/2014/02/kuala-lumpur-travel-guide-food-lovers/ I'm Mark Wiens and thank you very much for watching this video about a few of the top things to do in Kuala Lumpur, a city that just happens to be one of my favorite cities to visit in Southeast Asia. It's the largest and probably the most important and influential city in Malaysia and truly has some amazing sites to offer. Along with modern skyrise towers like the Petronas Towers, there are still lots of traditional historic buildings as well. The awesome mixture of cultures, the mix of traditional and modern, and very importantly, the outstanding cuisine is what makes Kuala Lumpur such a great city to explore! 1. On this list of top things to do in Kuala Lumpur I first stop by the most famous landmark of the the city: the Petronas Towers. These twin giant sky scrapers are huge, and they literally reach towards the heavens and touch the clouds. On the bottom of the Petronas Towers is a pretty fancy shopping mall while the tops of the towers are filled with offices. On the 41st and 42nd floor, there is a sky bridge which connects the two towers together and which is open for visitors. Years ago, it used to be free entrance but unfortunately now they have started to charge a rather steep 80 Malaysian Ringgits per person. 2. After the visiting the Petronas towers, number two on the list is the historical district of old Kuala Lumpur. Visiting and walking around the area is one of the top things to do in Kuala Lumpur and you shouldn't miss the opportunity. From Merdeka Square to the old railroad station, you'll see some amazing architecture and buildings. Another must visit is the National Mosque, which is known as Masjid Negara. With a capacity of 15,000, this is the central and most visited mosque in the city. 3. The Menara KL Tower, along with the Petronas Towers, is one of the dominating features of Kuala Lumpur's skyline. At 421 meters in height, it's one of the world's tallest communications towers. I was lucky enough to be invited to the annual BASE jumping event which was held at the KL Tower so I had a pass to go to the top for the incredible view and to see the event (http://migrationology.com/2012/10/jordan-kilgore-base-jump-kuala-lumpur/). The KL Tower also offer look out viewpoints and a number of restaurants where you can dine with an incredible view. 4. Number 4 is Little India which is better known as Brickfields. Kuala Lumpur is home to many Indian's many from the south of the country. Brickfields is a popular place to browse, shop for all sorts of Indian products and most importantly to eat at some seriously delicious Indian restaurants. If you're looking for good Indian food in Kuala Lumpur, check out this restaurant: http://migrationology.com/2012/11/south-indian-food-kuala-lumpur-vishalatchi/ 5. Chinatown, located on Petaling Street, is one of the biggest Kuala Lumpur attractions. It's mostly known for it street shopping and restaurants. You can find all sorts of fake brand names and nearly everything imaginable. 6. Thean Hou Temple is one of the most impressive Daoist temples in Kuala Lumpur. It's free to visit and offers insights into the Hainanese community in the city and there are also great views of the city. 7. Central Market, is a top tourist shopping attraction in Kuala Lumpur. Though many of the products are rather touristy, there are some good things waiting to be found. 8. Within central Kuala Lumpur are the KL Lake Gardens and Bird Park. It makes a great tropical escape to the bustling city life. 9. The Batu Caves, located just outside the central part of the city is one of the best things to do in Kuala Lumpur. The caves and shrines are one of the most sacred Hindu sites outside of India. 10. Chow Kit Market is the central fresh wet market in the city. Everyday thousands of shoppers get their Malaysian food ingredients at this interesting market. 11. Malaysian food is the ultimate attraction to visiting Kuala Lumpur. With a great mixture of local Malay, Chinese, and Indian, there's no shortage of incredible dining that will leave you satisfied and hungry for more! For myself, eating is one of the best things to do in Kuala Lumpur! Hope you enjoyed this list and hope you have a wonderful visit! Music in this video is Feel Free by Joe Sacco. Spectacular SPANISH FOOD + Craft Brewery Tours | Downtown Orlando, Florida

24:37
My first trip of 2019 was a road trip with my dad to Orlando in partnership with Greyhound. We spent two incredible days exploring the city’s non-touristy side, including where to go to get a taste of Orlando’s best food and beer. Come join us as we experience more of The City Beautiful! Follow my dad on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tomyhh/ Our afternoon started at Lake Eola in downtown Orlando, where you can rent paddleboats and see sites like a pagoda and the Walt Disney Amphitheater along its shores. For $15, we rented a paddleboat and took a 30-minute ride around the lake. I highly recommend it! Subscribe & Click the Bell for 2+ Videos Per Week ► http://bit.ly/DBH-SUB My Film Making Kit ► https://kit.com/davidsbeenhere From there, we took a pleasant, 20-minute walk to Church Street, which is closed off on Fridays and Saturdays and becomes a weekend hotspot. The downtown area was safe, clean, and more laid-back than Miami. Along the street is an old, preserved railway station that’s surrounded by retailers and condos. Also along Church Street was our next destination: Ceviche Tapas Bar & Restaurant, a Mediterranean restaurant that opened in 1997. We started with two different types of a Spanish craft beer called 1906: the Bach for me and the Vienna for my dad. It was like a cross between an amber and a stout and was fantastic. We followed that with four types of ceviche: Gambas (shrimp), Pulpo (octopus), Atun (tuna), and Casa (shrimp, scallops, squid, and market fish). The Pulpo was super fresh and contained a delicious mix of capers and pickled onions, and the Gambas contained jalapeños, which were pretty hot, but also really amazing. The Casa was a little tangy with a nice crunch and contained a white fish and lots of vegetables. The Atun was also really nice and was full of flavor. Next, we had the Tabla Mixta, which consisted of a spread containing serrano ham, chorizo, lomo, tetilla, blue cheese, honeycomb, Cabrales, mustard, and more with some bread. The tetilla was very buttery and the blue cheese with the honeycomb was outstanding! Next was the Rabo de Toro, or braised oxtail with red wine and saffron rice. The meat was so tender, buttery, and tasty, and fell right off the bone. We followed that with a Verdejo wine from Spain that was light and similar to Albariño. Up next, we had the Mariscos paella, which is a rice dish from the Alicante and Valencia regions of Spain that contains lobster, shrimp, scallops, squid, mussels, and chorizo. It contained a wet rice and I loved the flavors and the big chunks of calamari, and there was a nice amount of spice as well. We finished our meal with flan, a custardy, gelatinous dessert that’s topped with caramel. It was unreal, almost like a crème brûlée without the caramelized sugar on top. Our next stop was Orlando Brewing, the city’s pioneer in craft beer. They are one of only six organic breweries in the U.S., and this place is committed to using only the highest-quality ingredients. They have 35 beers on tap and more in the cooler. We tried their creamy vanilla English Pale Ale; grainy Pumpkin Stout; a creamy Jelly Roll; a very strong American Strong Ale; a citrusy Grapefruit Pale Ale; a creamy, caramel-flavored O-Town Brown Ale; a chocolatey, toasty Papa Midnight Imperial Stout with coffee flavor; a more basic stout; the Grand O Hoppy Double IPA; and an IP Lager that was like a lager-style IPA before taking a tour of the facility, which contains four 30-barrel vessels. I love seeing how breweries make their beer! Next, we headed over to Broken Cauldron Brewery & Taproom, which contains two breweries under the same roof: Broken Strings and Black Cauldron. We tried their light Country Road Lager; Red Mosquito Amber IPA, which was like a marriage of an amber and an IPA; a fantastic Liquid Vinyl Black IPA with coffee and some hops; B-Sides Mango-Ginger Sour, which is like a very sour fruit drink; an English barley wine; and the nutty and vanilla-infused Demon of the Fall Hazelnut. I hope you guys loved this video of our succulent Spanish lunch and brewery tours! If you did, please give it a thumbs up and leave me a comment below. Also, please subscribe to my channel! More about Taipei: https://youtu.be/0MCWOmnF8k8 https://youtu.be/lr9EviyRcGo Taipei, Taiwan is a super modern city with a deep-rooted culture that is becoming more and more popular as a gateway to East Asia and Southeast Asia. It’s new express MRT service from Taoyuan International Airport, a 36 minute ride, will make it even more convenient for travellers, especially those on a short layover. This short but important list of essential things you should know will help keep you on track with a smooth stay. Although taxis are plentiful and relatively inexpensive compared with other big cities in East Asia the MRT is one of the best ways to get to most of the main sites and business centers of Taipei City. The Nangang Exhibition Center where many conventions and shows are held is accessible by the blue and brown MRT lines. Neihou, where many tech industry businesses have their head office is also on the brown line, Xihu is one of the most convenient stops for quick and easy access. Taipei 101 for the last 3.5 years has had it’s own MRT stop on the red line. This is where you’ll also find The International Convention Center next to the Taipei 101 Shopping Mall. It’s also in close proximity to Taipei City Hall and is apart of the Xinyi Shopping District, where you’ll find one of the largest selections of luxury goods stores in East Asia. If you want to get more of a local perspective pick up an Easycard available at most MRT stations and register it online with Ubike, https://taipei.youbike.com.tw/en/index.php so you can have access to the city bikes that have stations across Taipei City and New Taipei City. Simply swipe your card next to the bike you want to rent and you’re ready to go. You can drop the bike off at any Ubike station. They’re almost always located near an MRT station. In the video I mention briefly that the Taiwanese people are very friendly and helpful. It’s true! If you ever appear to be lost or confused while looking at a map you will in most cases immediately attract the attention of a local who will be pleased to help you find your way. That’s wny I said “get lost”, literally you can get lost while exploring this amazing city with it’s maze of alleyways, quiet cafes, food stalls and shops and not worry that you won’t have help getting back to your hotel. Taipei and the rest of Taiwan is an extremely safe place to travel. There is literally no or very rare violent crime against tourists. Personal ownership of guns is banned. There has been reports of pick pocketing and petty theft, particularly in night markets and crowded places, but I think this is even rare now. How to change Basic English into Business English

05:46
http://www.engvid.com/ Want to get that job? Improve your image? Sound more professional? Learn how to transform simple English words to business English vocabulary and watch your career take off! I'll show you how to change "get" to "receive", " make sure" to "ensure", "give more information" to "elaborate", and more. These small vocabulary changes will make a huge difference in your English level. Test yourself on this lesson at http://www.engvid.com/how-to-change-basic-english-into-business-english/ TRANSCRIPT: Hi. My name is Rebecca from www.engvid.com. Today, you're going to learn how to speak more professionally in business situations. Now, at times, it's all right to use informal language. It's acceptable in everyday situations. But there are times when you'll want to create a more powerful impression. And at that time, you'll want to be able to use business English. What's the difference between general English and business English? Well, sometimes, there's not very much difference. Sometimes, general English is used in business contexts. But sometimes, you use a higher-level word. And that's what I'm going to teach you in this lesson. Let's look at some really easy, common examples. For example, if you say -- or if you want to say, "I got your email", in regular English, you might just say, "I got your email." What would you say if you want to make it business English? You would say -- I'm giving you a clue. The word starts with R. Instead of saying, "I got your email"; "I received your email." Okay? Now, it becomes more formal and more business-like. Suppose you want to tell someone, "I need your help" or, "I need some help." What word could you use that starts with R instead of "need"? "Require." So instead of saying -- and you can also change more than the verb. The verb is the key, but you could say -- instead of saying, "I need some help", you could say, "I require some assistance." Now, you've changed two words, the verb and also a noun. Let's try another one. "Let's talk about it later." Which business word could you use? "Let's discuss -- let's discuss it later." That sounds much more professional than saying, "Let's talk about it later." Next one. "How do I get in touch with her?" What word could you use instead of that? "How do I contact her?" Okay? Good. "Please make sure you arrive on time." Which business word could you use instead of "make sure"? "Please ensure you arrive on time." "Please give her your travel plans." Instead of saying "give", you could say, "Please provide her with your itinerary." There, we've changed another word. Instead of saying "travel plan" or "travel plans", you could use the word "itinerary". An "itinerary" is usually a piece of paper or a document that lists your travel plans, when you're departing, when you're arriving, where, when, and so on. "Please let them know when you will be arriving." "Please let them know" -- instead of that, you could say, "Please inform them of your arrival." Okay? Good. "Please tell me why you've made this decision." "Please explain your decision." "Could you please talk some more about that subject?" "Could you please elaborate? Could you please elaborate on that." Now, this is actually a very useful word if you go to a conference or a meeting and you want someone to speak some more about a particular point or issue. It's a good, kind of, question to learn. "Could you please elaborate on that?" So "to elaborate" means to speak more or talk more, give more information. "How are you going to fix this problem?" Better than using the word "fix" is the word "solve". "How are you going to solve this problem?" All right? So try to do that for every simple word that you know and basic word that you know in general English, try to find a slightly more formal version, which will be your business English word. And use these words in an office environment. If you've found this helpful, please subscribe to my channel on YouTube. And if you'd like to do a quiz on this subject, you can also go to our website, www.engvid.com. Thanks very much. Good luck with your English.
My Daily Life In NORTH KOREA (MYSTERIOUS 7 DAY TRIP)

14:36
UPDATE - one year after visiting North Korea I traveled to South Korea and made a video comparing my experiences in both of these two countries. Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJUSIWSaQX4 Learn how I started traveling full-time at 19: http://bit.ly/TravelingAt19 Catch me and meet me during my travels: http://bit.ly/MeetWithJacob Free $34 AirBnb credit for your next trip: http://bit.ly/AirBnb34Coupon I've always been very interested in North Korea because it seemed to be one of the most unique and mysterious countries in the whole world. This is my day to day life throughout the 7 days that I spent in North Korea. You can never be sure whether things were staged or not in North Korea because you are only shown what they want you to see. You can't choose where or when you will be going to specific places, they simply tell you to hop on a bus and ask you to get off at one point or another. That is why I didn't want to offer my opinion about whether things were staged or not, whether they were good or not, or honest or not. My goal was to show you what my day to day life looked like when I was there and let you make up your own mind and judge for yourself. Do not judge North Korea only from what you see in this video. This is what they showed us and there's a reason they show some things and not show the others. Also, knowing how much control they exercise over the population, everything could have been staged only for us. My favorite books about North Korea: Dear Leader by Jang Jin Sung - http://amzn.to/2vEkrrE; Escape From Camp 14 by Blaine Harden - http://amzn.to/2vEz6U1; Nothing To Envy by Barbara Demick - http://amzn.to/2vzieiI; 1984 by George Orwell (I couldn't believe how similar some things in North Korea looked to the ones in the book) - http://amzn.to/2vE92s8.
