Social Statics (Chapter 4: Derivation of a First Principle) by Herbert Spencer

34:43
Herbert Spencer's first major work of political philosophy in which he attempts to lay the basis for a limited state on a rigorous development of a doctrine of natural rights. He begins with a defense of his "first principle" that every man, "may claim the fullest liberty to exercise his faculties compatible with the possession of like liberty by every other man." From that, he argues, follows all other rights. Economist Murray Rothbard called 'Social Statics' "the greatest single work of libertarian political philosophy ever written." Herbert Spencer First Principles Audio Book Download Link

Herbert Spencer First Principles Audio Book Download Link. Load onto mp3 player, IPod, or write to disk for you car etc. Download link from Google Drive : https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B-91Ml2fGX2nRGpzdlFReUhWQm8&usp=sharing It is a little bit artificial at first, but soon the mind adjusts and the impartiality of the voice wins favour. I find that the subconscious absorbs the content even in your sleep. Look for the download icon in Google Drive to save to your machine. Take care. The content is heavy and is best assimilated in smaller amounts. Keep yourself grounded (sometimes literally) and don't be taken aback or live with your head in the clouds. Keep your mind ever on the Star, but let your eyes watch over your footsteps, lest you fall into the mire by reason of your upward gaze. Caveat audiens ("let the listener beware"). Knowledge to you. Enjoy.

Audio presentation of Herbert Spencer's 1884 study "The Man versus The State." Read by Jock Coats. English libertarian sociologist Herbert Spencer sees a statist corruption appearing within the liberal ideological framework, and warns of what he calls "the coming slavery". He argues that liberalism, which liberated the world from slavery and feudalism, was undergoing a transformation. It is a little bit artificial at first, but soon the mind adjusts and the impartiality of the voice wins favour. I find that the subconscious absorbs the content even in your sleep. Knowledge to you. Social Statics (Chapter 26: National Education, Part 1) by Herbert Spencer

35:02
Herbert Spencer's first major work of political philosophy in which he attempts to lay the basis for a limited state on a rigorous development of a doctrine of natural rights. He begins with a defense of his "first principle" that every man, "may claim the fullest liberty to exercise his faculties compatible with the possession of like liberty by every other man." From that, he argues, follows all other rights. Economist Murray Rothbard called 'Social Statics' "the greatest single work of libertarian political philosophy ever written." The concept lies between science and religion. The Ananke Concept was induced as a generality (took 15 years) and then used deductively to explain Man's emotions and nature as well as scientific nature and metaphysics. Most of the difficult questions such as "Who am I?," and "What am I?," and "Where do I go when I die?, are addressed. Also addressed is the possibility that there is a Mind behind this Order and that it is infinite in age but NOT omnipotent for a good reason (thus the question of "Why do bad things happen to good people" is answered). As a physicist once said to me, "you have gold nuggets of information in your book." Enjoy listening to it and if you want a FREE pdf copy then download a copy at any of the 2 links above. Social Statics (Introduction: Lemma I) by Herbert Spencer

16:56
Social Statics (Chapter 19: The Right to Ignore the State) by Herbert Spencer

25:02
Herbert Spencer's first major work of political philosophy in which he attempts to lay the basis for a limited state on a rigorous development of a doctrine of natural rights. He begins with a defense of his "first principle" that every man, "may claim the fullest liberty to exercise his faculties compatible with the possession of like liberty by every other man." From that, he argues, follows all other rights. Economist Murray Rothbard called 'Social Statics' "the greatest single work of libertarian political philosophy ever written." Herbert Spencer's first major work of political philosophy in which he attempts to lay the basis for a limited state on a rigorous development of a doctrine of natural rights. He begins with a defense of his "first principle" that every man, "may claim the fullest liberty to exercise his faculties compatible with the possession of like liberty by every other man." From that, he argues, follows all other rights. Economist Murray Rothbard called 'Social Statics' "the greatest single work of libertarian political philosophy ever written." Audiobook Part 2 of 2: https://youtu.be/5ct1NNaTKL4 Social Statics, or The Conditions essential to Happiness specified, and the First of them Developed is an 1851 book by the British polymath Herbert Spencer. In it, he uses the term "fitness" in applying his ideas of Lamarckian evolution to society, saying for example that "It is clear that any being whose constitution is to be moulded into fitness for new conditions of existence must be placed under those conditions. Or, putting the proposition specifically — it is clear that man can become adapted to the social state, only by being retained in the social state. Despite its commonly being attributed to this book, it was not until his Principles of Biology of 1864 that Spencer coined the phrase "survival of the fittest", which he would later apply to economics and biology. This was a key tenet of so-called Social Darwinism. Economist Murray Rothbard called Social Statics "the greatest single work of libertarian political philosophy ever written. 0. Social Statics (Chapter 15: Further Rights) by Herbert Spencer

02:00
Herbert Spencer's first major work of political philosophy in which he attempts to lay the basis for a limited state on a rigorous development of a doctrine of natural rights. He begins with a defense of his "first principle" that every man, "may claim the fullest liberty to exercise his faculties compatible with the possession of like liberty by every other man." From that, he argues, follows all other rights. Economist Murray Rothbard called 'Social Statics' "the greatest single work of libertarian political philosophy ever written." Just $7.49 a month. Herbert Spencer (27 April 1820 -- 8 December 1903) was an English philosopher, biologist, sociologist, and prominent classical liberal political theorist of the Victorian era. Spencer developed an all-embracing conception of evolution as the progressive development of the physical world, biological organisms, the human mind, and human culture and societies. As a polymath, he contributed to a wide range of subjects, including ethics, religion, anthropology, economics, political theory, philosophy, biology, sociology, and psychology. During his lifetime he achieved tremendous authority, mainly in English-speaking academia. In 1902 he was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature. Indeed, in the United Kingdom and the United States at "one time Spencer's disciples had not blushed to compare him with Aristotle!" He is best known for coining the concept "survival of the fittest", which he did in Principles of Biology (1864), after reading Charles Darwin's On the Origin of Species. This term strongly suggests natural selection, yet as Spencer extended evolution into realms of sociology and ethics, he also made use of Lamarckism. The Story of Philosophy: the Lives and Opinions of the Greater Philosophers is a book by Will Durant that profiles several prominent Western philosophers and their ideas, beginning with Plato and on through Friedrich Nietzsche. Durant attempts to show the interconnection of their ideas and how one philosopher's ideas informed the next. Philosophers profiled are, in order: Plato, Aristotle, Francis Bacon, Baruch Spinoza, Voltaire (with a section on Rousseau), Immanuel Kant (with a section on Hegel), Arthur Schopenhauer, Herbert Spencer, and Friedrich Nietzsche. The final two chapters are devoted to European and then American philosophers. Henri Bergson, Benedetto Croce, and Bertrand Russell are covered in the tenth, and George Santayana, William James, and John Dewey are covered in the eleventh.

Social Statics (Chapter 30: General Considerations, Part 1) by Herbert Spencer

44:46
Herbert Spencer's first major work of political philosophy in which he attempts to lay the basis for a limited state on a rigorous development of a doctrine of natural rights. He begins with a defense of his "first principle" that every man, "may claim the fullest liberty to exercise his faculties compatible with the possession of like liberty by every other man." From that, he argues, follows all other rights. Economist Murray Rothbard called 'Social Statics' "the greatest single work of libertarian political philosophy ever written." Click on "SUBSCRIBE" (Bottom Left) This book expands an Ancient Greek Concept into a philosophy. It addresses metaphysical issues such as Soul, Spirit, afterlife and God in a new way. The concept lies between science and religion.
