Difference Between Inline and Block Elements CSS

05:52
Block vs inline explained. Why not both? When to use it, how to transform one in another and much more in this tutorial. Follow the wisdom of Tech Tzu: https://twitter.com/Tech_Tzu https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100013382105892&fref=ts Project Resources: http://www.mediafire.com/download/ydkkkcar8z6685c/Inline_vs_Block_elements_-_by_Tech_Tzu.zip Tools: Brackets, FREE code editor http://brackets.io/ Emmet, super speed coding addon http://emmet.io/ Beautify, turning your ugly code into beautiful script https://github.com/brackets-beautify/brackets-beautify Transcription: Okay let's understand what is the difference between inline and block elements, it's very important to understand the difference so we can easily manipulate your HTML file and CSS files. And your website layout in general. Okay. Inline elements are basically elements that flow, that flows one after each other, for example, add one p tag and add some text inside, as you can see we can add our span, which is an in-line element and says this is span and you can see that our text is inside the text it this text wrap its around, so nothing special, you just add some in-line elements. For example, let's add the big is this is an inline element and say this is big text, and that's it. Inline elements are elements that are inside the text and the text flows around them. Okay, let's move to block elements. Block elements are, for example, our div is a block element and I will explain on this example. Let's add to our div some styling, some styling, I prepare some styles over here in the comment just cut it inside add some width to be 100 pixels, and the height also, and background color to be white. Just to add hex code... and now we can see our div element. For example, if you add, we can add in the span elements, we can add another span element, for example, this is a big text big, we just copy and paste it and it will be in a line, but if we add another div elements, just copy this one here, it will go in another line. Just add some margin so we can better see margin to be up 20 pixels. Okay, so we can see our, our div element so let's add another div element. okay, there's another div element. As you can see the block elements are one below another and our in-line elements are next to each other. But, we have tricks, we can just mash up some these things, and just let's say that are div elements, which are naturally block elements, let's say display, display inline, so they act like inline elements. And what happened? As you can see something is wrong. And that's because inline elements don't support height and width of the elements. Just check this out: if we add to our big, just say it's add to our big element, let's add height for example 100 pixels nothing happens. Width also 100 pixels nothing happens. Because inline elements don't support width and height, but block elements do, so we just need to display these like inline-block. As you can see now our elements are acting just like in-line elements, just like this one, and that but there block elements. What will happen if we add to our in-line elements display to be displayed like a block? They will just fall down ok? I will just add background color so we can see better. And as you can see we changed to block height in the width now have a purpose and we had these white background block but if we add inline-block they will flow next to each other the flow next to each other. So the main difference between the div and in-line between the block and in-line elements is that in-line in line with text and block acts as a block and just add display in-line block or display block to change behavior of that element. So everything can be in-line and everything can be a block element by just by adding these rule display. And this is it, thank you for watching and bye-bye.

How to Use Display: Block in CSS

00:52
Follow this step by step guide to learn the basic concept of Block tags used in HTML and their properties Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ Block Tags are widely used in HTML designing and creating interactive web pages. When we insert a Block tag in a source code with an Image or Text, it will automatically add margin and space to it. Due to this property, an Image or a text which is inserted in the Block tag is displayed identically on the web page. Here we will teach you how to block tags in a HTML and how it will appear on the web page. Step # 1 -- Insert an Image Tag In this tutorial, we will guide you on how to block tags on a HTML page. Block tags are basically same as the inline images or text. However, a block tag takes vertical space on both sides when displayed on a page. In order to insert block tags, open up the source code of the HTML page where you have already inserted the inline tags on Text editor. Now, move over to the "Image" tag and add the code as Style = "display: block" Add this code between the Image source and the closing tag. Step # 2 -- Save the Changes In the next step, save your changes and refresh your browser. You will notice a cloud image appearing separately from the text as a block on the page. Step # 3 -- Using the Block Property of Tags Next, go back to the source code and move over the "Div" tag of the inline text and replace it with "Block" tag. Step # 4 -- Save your Changes and Display the Page Once you have replaced the tags, save your changes and refresh the browser in order to view your selected text as a block tag on the page.

CSS Display Property in HINDI - How to use CSS Display in HTML?

10:44
Hello Friends.. today in this video i have explained the complete concept of CSS Display .. How to use CSS Display property in HTML? CSS display is the most important property of CSS which is used to control the layout of the element. It specifies how the element is displayed. Every element has a default display value according to its nature. Every element on the webpage is a rectangular box and the CSS property defines the behavior of that rectangular box. Syntax display:value; CSS display values There are following CSS display values which are commonly used. display: inline; display: inline-block; display: block; display: none; CSS display inline The inline element takes the required width only. It doesn't force the line break so the flow of text doesn't break in inline example. CSS display inline-block The CSS display inline-block element is very similar to inline element but the difference is that you are able to set the width and height. CSS display block The CSS display block element takes as much as horizontal space as they can. Means the block element takes the full available width. They make a line break before and after them. CSS display none The "none" value totally removes the element from the page. It will not take any space. Hope you guys like the video,if you have any other query ,please let me know. Thanks for watching.. Please Like ,share and Subscribe the channel.. JAI HIND!!

How text styles cascade down - Webflow CSS tutorial

03:19
In Webflow, as in code, elements pass their typographic style information down to their children. You can set text styles on parent elements, these styles will cascade down, and you can override these styles on their child elements. It’s common to use this technique to set global font styles on the Body tag, to align text and other elements inside of sections, and to override default link block styles. In this article, we’ll cover three examples of how text style cascading works: 1. From the body tag 2. From Webflow's section element 3. From Webflow's link block ---------- Get started with Webflow: https://help.webflow.com/courses/getting-started http://webflow.com http://twitter.com/webflow http://facebook.com/webflow

CSS video tutorial - 6 - Embedded styles | style tag

11:30
Embedded Style: Styles that are placed within the style tag are called embedded styles. We use style tag to place embedded styles. Declaration block: is used to group declarations separated by semicolon in one block, so that more than one styles can applied on a selected element or more than one selected elements. { color:white; // declaration of style rule 1 background-color:black; // declaration of style rule 2 font-size:24pt; // declaration of style rule 3 } Selector: is a string used to select an element or more than one elements to which we want to apply group of style rules. selector { color:whte; background-color:black; font-size:24pt; } p { color:whte; background-color:black; font-size:24pt; } Types of selectors: tag selector, class selector, id selector, and contextual selector. Note: Embedded styles are placed within style tag and style tag should be placed within head tag. Limitations of Embedded Style: If we have many web pages with common styles, then we have to copy paste all embedded declaration blocks to every other web page. That increases the web site size. Increase in code size. Code Redundancy. No maintainability. Time consuming. To overcome this limitation we use external style. ======================================================== Follow the link for next video: https://youtu.be/zCry11BLxAk Follow the link for previous video: https://youtu.be/Kx6nBZuD0tg ========= For more benefits & Be up to date =================== Subscribe to the channel: https://www.youtube.com/chidrestechtu... CSS Tutorial For Beginners 41 - Block-level Elements

11:09
Yo my fellow web ninjas! In this CSS tutorial for beginners we're going to explore what a block-level element is. I've mentioned already that the box-model governs the spacial properties (padding, margin, width, height & border) of all block-level elements, but not yet talked about what a block level element is! A block level element is one which occupies the full horizontal width of its parent element. An in-line element stacks from left to right... IN LINE. Hence the name :P. Box model properties do not apply to in-line elements, but we can set the display types of these elements to inline-block, so that we can control the spacial properties of them too! Anyway, peace out, have fun & keep coding :). Dreamweaver cs5 tutorial:Css property DISPLAY ( none, block, inline and inline-block)

11:57
"Block" Versus "In-line" Elements Block-level elements create vertically distinct blocks of content (in the visual context) - generally using a line-break before and after the content. Only this value for the 'display' is allowed to generate a positioned element. Block behavior is exhibited by such HTML elements as BLOCKQUOTEs, DIVs and Headings (Hn.) 'Display' property values creating a block element type: 'block', 'list-item', 'table, 'compact' and 'run-in' In-line elements do not create distinct blocks of content; element content is rendered using a line box (content is distributed line by line within a containing physical or virtual block element.) In-line behavior is exhibited by such HTML elements as physical and virtual character formatting, non-floated images and unmarked content. 'Display' property values creating an in-line element type: 'inline', 'inline-table', 'compact' and 'run-in'. 5 Ways to Center with CSS! [VOICE TUTORIAL]

08:45
Hey! In this video I show you 5 different and equally useful ways to center different types of content with CSS! Method #1 - 0:30 Written Like: display: block; margin: 0 auto; Description: This method of centering is by far the one that I use the most. It is a simple, reliable and more of all quick way to center any sort of content, not just text. Method #2 - 2:05 Written Like: display: flex; align-items: center; justify-content center; Description: The flex property is one of the lesser known CSS properties and I think this is down to it being really temperamental. It takes a little practice to get good at but when you do, it's super powerful and you'll use it everyday. It also allows you to center without defining the width of the content. Method #3 - 3:50 Written Like: position: absolute; left: 50%; transform: translate -50%, 0; Put the -50%, 0 in brackets. YouTube wouldn't let me. Description: This is probably my second or third favourite means of centering with CSS and it seems crazy that it was set up to work this way. By setting the left property to 50% and then using transform to drag the content back by 50% of it's own width, it allows for content to be centered every time. This can be used for more than just text also! Method #4 - 5:30 Written Like: Type center in angle brackets and close it off. Anything inside will be centered. YouTube won't let me type angle brackets here. Description: I would not recommend this for every piece of content that you need to be centered. It has known compatibility issues with older browsers and website tests will flag this as being outdated. It is good however if you're testing as it's quick, easy to write and remember and to be honest, it works! Method #5 - 6:45 Written Like: text-align: center; Description: This is pure and simple CSS. This method is limited to just text but it is easy to write and will center your text with just this one parameter!
