Everyone wants to get the most they can out of the things they buy. If you don't, then it's time to complain. The Consumer Federation of America lists the top things that consumers complain about. Some of those items include Utility Service, retailer sales for false advertisement, lending companies, health products and auto and auto repairs, which consumers say extends from faulty repairs and false advertising. With the internet and social media getting stronger everyday, consumers have more avenues to express their complaints. Angela Thompson bought her husband a tool set from from Sears, but was charged for the set twice. She called the company and received no response. She then took her complaint to the Sears facebook page, where she expressed her complaint and she wrote an email and a letter to the CEO. A few days later she received a call and was immediately given a refund. "Don't be afraid to complain, companies want to hear from you." said Marketing Professor Cait Lamberton. In order to complain effectively, you have to follow a few steps, which include but are not limited to the following: •Be prepared, by having receipts, paperwork and account numbers on hand. •Be specific about what you want from the company and who you want to speak too. •Remain Loyal - Let them know that you are a repeated customer, this will make them want to do their best to make sure you get what you need. •Be nice- Think rationally about what's going on, and try to understand that the situation that took place was not anything personal. If you don't know how to write a complaint letter or email, the Federal Trade Commission has a sample letter on their website.

TESCO COMPLAINT FOR FAULTY GOODS PART 1 16th May 2012

Having bought a Tesco branded wireless keyboard & mouse around 6 weeks ago and found the item to be faulty this morning. I thought I would return the item for a replacement at my local store Bletchley. Arriving at the store & finding 1 elderly gentleman in front of me in the queue, and 1 girl behind the counter who was busy gossiping with other members of staff. When I pointed out the fact that there customers waiting to be served I was shot down with "I'm dealing with someone else" A common retort as I have now found out from other customers. After explaining my problem I was told that without a receipt for electrical good they would not exchange the item. Then speaking to a dept manager called Adam Walsh who is the most obnoxious person I have ever met. At all times I tried to keep cool but, refusing to accept an exchange for there own branded good is despicable and very bad service. You don't get this at M&S. After having a queue form behind me Mr Walsh then told me I was now being rude by Raising my voice. Meaning please don't make a scene in front of others. At this I left and decided to do some background checking. Having referred to the government consumer website & Martin Lewis's site it clearly states that under the consumers act of 2008 any faulty item bought under months has to be replaced with or without a receipt. IO then came home & tried to call the Bletchley Manager and this recording is the result. I'm not bothered about £15.00 for a keyboard its the fact that I was treated in this way by under trained managers with chip's on there shoulder. WHAT WOULD YOU DO NOW. !!

In fact, research has found that this trick can triple your chances of a successful outcome. Step 2: Include back-up State the problem and include any back-up materials, such as a sales receipt or any previous correspondence. Tip In addition to your address and phone number, include your email address for a speedy response. Step 3: Be specific State exactly what the company can do to keep you as a customer, whether it’s a refund, store credit, or a replacement. Got a safety incident on Amazon in your seller performace notifications? Try this to help fix it. Amazon's efforts to enforce product safety and compliance took a new turn with reports of blocked listings due to "Safety Incident Complaints." I have seen several of these of late and the responses by Product Quality teams are much the same for other item quality complaints. They require you to provide a Plan of Action and redirect you back to your inventory inspection processes, much as they would in an account suspension case. "Thank you for responding to our request for information. However, we still need more information regarding your plan of action for this Safety Incident complaint before we can reinstate your listing on your behalf." You want your listing back of course, and maybe it's one of your best ASINs. The information in your POA needs to be good. You've got to do some digging and respond with some real understanding of the causes and your solutions to a product safety problem. Otherwise Amazon believes your items pose a risk to buyers. That, and internally Amazon doesn't want to deal with more complaints in the future if they can help it. They cannot scale that work very well. Some odd notifications are being sent to sellers, indicating their listing has been removed due to a "safety incident", though the notification does not give any specifics beyond that. This is making it very difficult to determine how to respond to Amazon, and we're in the process of trying to glean more information about this, but until we figure out exactly what is going on, here is what is important to know: It appears this a Product-Quality driven initiative, and no other teams are currently involved. So far we have seen warnings come through on HPC products and Consumer Electronics, so it doesn't seem limited to one product category. The warnings seem to be triggered by keywords scraped from product reviews. It's not clear if this is a momentary focus, a certain project they are working on, or if this is the new way of things. Amazon's usual MO of warn/warn/suspend/block does not seem to be the way this is working. If you've received one of these notifications, before preparing your appeal you should most definitely: Review all returns and buyer contacts for the last 90 days for potential clues as to the problem. Carefully read all 1 and 2 star product reviews, paying close attention for duplicate complaints. If a safety issue trend is spotted, reach out to the manufacturer immediately with information on these concerns, asking for next steps that should be taken to address the issue. Ask for proof of product safety testing, MSDS sheets, CE, ETL, and audit certifications, etc. When appealing: Provide any documentation that you've received from the manufacturer to support the statement that the product is safe and should be available for sale. Test results, authorizations and certifications are all good ways to prove the efficacy of a product. DO NOT BLAME. (This is just good advice whenever dealing with Amazon.) Provide facts based on your own investigation to show that the product is safe. Do not blame the customer for misuse. Do not deny knowledge of the issue. Do not be anything other than ready, willing and able to get to the bottom of whatever happened. We're in the process of learning more about the motivation behind sending these notices, and we'll update you in Part 2 as soon as we know more.
