Your business needs a cohesive brand strategy that is implemented throughout every marketing channel. Many companies in the Cannabis Industry put so much time into their products and services that they forget to create a unique brand experience. 1 – Mismatching product packaging Inconsistent packaging from companies is one of the biggest problems that we see. Many edible companies offer several different types of products, but will rarely keep consistency in their branding. Their suckers, baked goods, pill containers and oil packaging are so different from one another that it’s impossible for a consumer to recognize that the products are made by the same company. Not only should your packaging be eye-catching and stick out on a shelf, but a customer should instantly recognize that the product is produced by your company. Having easily identifiable packaging and consistent branding will help increase repeat purchases and brand awareness of your products. 2 – Disjointed marketing channels Another branding mistake that we often see are marijuana companies creating an inconsistent brand experience across marketing channels. The fonts, logo and color schemes should remain consistent across all marketing channels. This includes what your social media images, your website design, as well as your physical marketing collateral such as business cards or flyers. Your branding needs to be consistent. When a customer visits your website, you should be presenting them with a similar experience that they will have in your dispensary, consuming your products or working with your business. Consistently branding your company throughout all marketing channels will help your brand recognition. It is important to remember people feel more comfortable purchase from brands that they know rather than ones they haven’t heard of before. That is my brand recognition is so critical. Over time this allows people to create a relationship with your company as they try your company’s different products or services. 3 – Inconsistent brand experience If you believe your business creates a superior high quality cannabis product, offers a unique dispensary experience or provides premium services to those in the Cannabis Industry, then your branding needs to convey that message. People associate design with trust. You can have the best cannabis edible on the market, but if your packaging does not reflect that same level of quality consumers may never try your product. If your dispensaries website looks like it was built in 2005 or designed by your cousin in his basement, people are going to associate that online experience with what they will receive in your store. Your company needs to have unique high quality design work that resonate with your audience and backs up the superior quality of your products or the five-star service you provide to your customers. Start building a consistent brand The sooner you start building a consistent brand, the quicker your company can start reaping the benefits of having one. The Cannabis Industry is still in its infancy. If you start branding your company consistently now you are setting your company up for long-term growth.

Intel vs AMD? Forget it. The processor wars of the 90s are almost as legendary as Sega vs. Nintendo or Amiga vs. Atari. While Intel was improving the 386 and 486, competitors popped up like AMD and Cyrix, leaving Intel with a lot more competition on their hands than today, and various lawsuits followed along the way. These companies were dedicated to overtaking Intel in the processor race, and when Intel jumped to the Pentium, Cyrix and AMD weren't far behind with 5x86 and 6x86 processor iterations (AMD with their K6). This video will explore the whole Cyrix story, from their setup to their unfortunate demise. Along the way I'll ask the important question; Did Quake kill off Cyrix? Was it the undoing of an entire processor designer?.... It's a question which has basis in the Cyrix 686 processor's poor FPU performance and John Carmack's coding which leaned heavily on Intel FPU design. But it might not be the only reason why this silicon chip designer bit the bullet. This is an era where it wasn't just Intel vs AMD, or a simple price vs performance war. This was an era of Intel vs AMD vs Cyrix vs IDT, and for me, having lived through it, it's absolutely fascinating. I think groups like the Heartland Institute, which, they are by no means alone in any of this science denial. They're at the forefront of the assault on both, regulations and science, itself, within the Republican Party. Now, Heartland has taken a lot of heat over the years. They've been one of the most vocals. They're the people who put up those massive billboards in the past, with a picture of Charles Manson that says, "I still believe in climate change, do you?" Obviously, absolutely stupid statement to make, that has no bearing on anything whatsoever, but the Heartland Institute decided to do it, and they're funded by fossil fuel interests. See, that's the thing about all these Republican think tanks. They go out there. They got their own scientists, or experts, people like Myron Ebell. They tell us that, "No, science isn't settled on this, there's big arguments in the scientific community. Uh, we don't know if the planet's even warming, or if it is warming, we certainly can't say that human beings are doing it. And, if we can say that human beings are doing it, then, we can't say what percentage. And, if we do happen to have a percentage, then, there's probably nothing we can do anyway." That is actually the line of thought, the train of thought that Republicans have been using recently. We've seen Marco Rubio come out with that, like, "Well, we can't really put a percentage on what humans are contributing to climate change." Yeah, actually scientists can, and they have. They have. How about you go read a scientific paper, Marco Rubio? How about you stop reading the propaganda being put out by groups like the Heartland Institute, or Heritage Foundation, or any of those other right wing, fossil fuel funded organizations, and you start looking at the real science. 'Cause here's the thing, regardless of what Republicans tell you, scientists, the people out there fighting for a better planet, they don't have anything financially to gain from any of this. The fossil fuel companies do. I've seen that talking point too many times. I've spent many years covering climate science denial, through my work with DeSmog Blog. This is an issue I'm very up on. Republicans always want to tell us that, "These scientist out there think they know better than everybody else." They're just in it for themselves. What do they have to gain? Nobody's paying them to go out there and say, "The planet is burning down," and that, "We need to save it." The only thing they have to gain, is a slightly more habitable planet for themselves, and their loved ones. That is reason enough for them to come out there, and try to make things better. Meanwhile, groups like Heartland, groups like Heritage, and all of the others out there, they're funded by fossil fuel companies, the people who do have a direct interest, financial interest, in us denying that a problem even exists. Because, if we all finally admitted, that, "Yes, this is happening. And, yes, humans are making it worse. And, yes, the fossil fuel companies are responsible," then, suddenly, their profits go way down. We start investing in renewable energy. Not once along the way, has any one of those idiotic CEOs running an Exxon, a Shell, or BP, or Chevron, or any of them, said, "You know what?

Day one of conference ended with a presentation by author and customer experience extraordinaire, Jay Baer. Having already implemented customer service tactics presented by Baer in his book, Hug your Haters, our team was excited to learn more from him thanks to his upcoming book, Talk Triggers. Our team was challenged to discover a memorable experience that we can provide our customers to keep our brand top of mind.
