Pro-Ject Essential III - a perfect example of bad product design.
The plexiglass cover pushes the counterweight forward, adjusting the tracking force, in our case to 2.4 grams. For heavier cartridges, a separate counterweight (75g vs the 65g original) is needed, which is an optional extra sold separately.

How To Write User Stories | UX Tutorial
Want are User Stories and how do you write them? In this UX tutorial for beginners I show you how! ____ In this video I go over what user stories are, how to write them and how to use them to create a product using an agile workflow. What is a User Story? It's a short, simple description of a product feature, told from the perspective of the person who wants that feature or as a potential/existing user of a product or service. They are used to define the product backlog in an Agile development workflow. The product backlog is a collection of user stories that drives feature development for a product or service. How do you Write a User Story? They are composed of 3 parts: - #1 User persona - #2 The feature the user requires - #3 The need satisfied by that feature Example: As a (user) I want a (feature) so that I can (satisfy a need). What is an Epic? An epic is essentially a very big user story which likely includes many other smaller user stories. Example (Airbnb): I want to find holiday destinations and travel abroad. Let's break own this example: Step 1 : Write our epics Epic #1 As a user I want to discover new and interesting destinations Epic #2 As a user I want to book accommodation in a foreign city. Epic #3 As a user I want to create an experience in a foreign city Step 2 : Break these epics into smaller stories ____ LEARN HOW TO START A CAREER IN UX WITH THIS FREE GUIDE: https://bit.ly/2xuYDDE ____ CREATE USER STORIES Sticky notes - http://amzn.eu/hDUuw9a Sharpie marker pens - http://amzn.eu/jhbAm8w FAVE UX TOOLS Webflow - https://webflow.com/ UX Pin - https://www.uxpin.com/ Balsamiq - https://balsamiq.com/ InVision - https://www.invisionapp.com/ Trello - https://trello.com/ Lucid Chart - https://www.lucidchart.com/ ____ Check out my social for more UX tips: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/robertsmith.co/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/robertsmith_co

5 Tips for System Design Interviews
Here are 5 Tips for System Design interviews. They are helpful when preparing for a System Design interview. 1) Don't get into details prematurely 2) Avoid fitting requirements to a set architecture in mind 3) Keep it simple, stupid! Remember to look at the big picture and avoid too many hacks when solving. 4) Have justifications for the points you make. Don't use buzz words or half hearted thoughts in your design. 5) Be aware of the current solutions and tech practices. A lot of solutions can be purchased off the shelf which simplify implementation. You should be able to argue for a custom implementation with it's pros and cons. Have these on the back of your mind during you interview, and all the best! Here are three major points evaluated during the interview: (1) Clarity of Thought a) Express your thoughts in a clear manner. b) Justify your decisions. Critical reasoning and argument are key to a successful software design. c) When faced with a problem, use standard approaches to mitigate it. For example, say you are faced with an availability problem. State that replication and partitioning help increase availability in general, and move on to offer a solution. d) Don’t make points without thinking them through. Half-hearted attempts at solving problems are frowned upon heavily. (2) Knowledge a) Stay up to date with the current solutions in the market. This includes products and design practices. If NoSQL is being adopted left right and center, you need to be aware of it. b) Know when to pick a solution vs. building something custom. If you name a product, you should be (generally) aware of the features it provides. c) Design practices enable you to meet custom requirements. Examples are decoupling systems, load balancing, sticky sessions, etc… (3) Flexibility a) Switch your targets as the requirements shift. If the interviewer wants to know about one particular part of the system, do it first. b) Never have a set architecture in mind. We all try to fit requirements to a system, but only after it has been shaped by the initial ones. A rigid attitude creates a brittle architecture. It will break before you do. c) Take a step back at times to make adjustments to the general architecture. Being focused on one part can narrow our vision and bloat those areas. There will be components which can be extracted out and extended to the rest of the system. Cheers! Architecture Client Presentation
A behind-the-scenes look at a typical architecture client presentation for a residential project currently in design. I’ll show you the drawings, models, material samples and imagery I've developed for my clients to review at a recent meeting. Although I wasn’t able to sneak you in for the actual meeting (that’s been difficult to arrange with private clients) I’ve done the next best thing and that is to share with you the thinking and methodology that goes into every single client meeting. Together we’ll review the agenda and how I structure it, all the documents, images, and materials I compile. I discuss the importance of building a coherent story and narrative, how to structure your relationship as a collaboration, why I don’t believe in final renderings, and the special importance sketching has in a meeting environment. Every client meeting is an opportunity to listen more than you speak and I stress how important it is to compartmentalize the myriad decisions into sensible portions to make the process go as smoothly as possible. How to Make a Beautiful Landing Page That Converts | 5 Tips for Optimizing Your Website (2018)
You're driving traffic to your website, or even worse you're paying for traffic, and these visitors aren't converting. What should you do? ►►Subscribe here to learn more of my secret SEO tips: https://goo.gl/ScRTwc Find me on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/neilkpatel/ Read more on my blog: https://neilpatel.com/blog Well, if you don't do the following five tips, those visitors are going to be wasted, and you're not going to be able to convert them. Hey everyone, I'm Neil Patel, and today, I'm going to share with you, how to make a landing page that converts over 40%. I know what you're thinking, 40% conversion rate, on a landing page, that's insane. Well, that's possible. Sure if you're selling a product for $100, you're not going to get a 40% conversion rate. But let's say you're just starting out and collecting leads like name and email address, you can get over 40%. And even if you're selling products you can boost your conversion rates if you follow these exact tips. Tip #1: Use tools like Instapage and Click Funnels. The cool part about Click Funnels and Instapage and even Lead Pages is they break down the landing pages in their system that convert to the best. And they're not making this up by saying oh this landing page converts better than this other one cause it looks cooler. They're using data; they have so many customers, thousands and thousands if not hundreds of thousands, that they're basing it on their existing customer base and their current conversion rates. So they know all their customers are using this one landing page that's converting better than all the other ones out there, that should tell you, hey you should start with this landing page first. #2: Offer an amazing unique value proposition. Not a weak one like put in your name and email and I'll send you a free pdf, or I'll send you weekly updates. That value proposition is terrible. It has to be amazing. With a lot of my offers, I give free courses. I give free guides that I've spent $30,000 creating. But I'm a crazy person. You don't have to go above and beyond like me, but my stuff converts better than most people. Why? Because I go above and beyond. With your value proposition, it needs to resonate with people; if you're not solving a problem that they're facing at a really deep level, they're not going to opt in or buy from you. If you're just scratching the surface and you're not breaking down why they should opt in or why they should buy your product or service and why it solves this problem they've had forever, they're much less likely to buy from you. So really focus on your copy. Out of everything I've tested when it comes to landing pages, copy and value proposition, are the biggest factors that influence conversion rate. #3: Keep it simple, silly. One of my companies was called Kiss Metrics. Why? Because I found that in marketing, everyone tries to over complicate stuff. There's no reason for it. Why not keep things super simple? For example, if you have 10 form fields, when you only need two, remove the extra stuff that you don't need. You don't want fluffy long landing pages that go on and on because you're going to lose people. #4: Show social proof. There are so many different versions of social proof. They could be testimonials; they could be case studies, it could be results that other people are experiencing, it could even be videos. If you're unsure on the best type of social proof, for your landing page, leave a comment below on what you're thinking, and I'll respond back if I think that's good or if not so good or if you should be doing something else instead. #5: Create a video. Not everyone enjoys reading. Some people love looking at pictures. But a picture isn't going to cause tons more people to convert. You need a video that explains everything they're going to get when they opt-in, or buy your product, or sign up for your service. The video should be short and to the point. Under three minutes, ideally under one minute. It should answer any objections people have before they sign up or buy from you. And it should describe everything in a logical order. Follow these tips; you're going to have an amazing landing page that's going to convert better. If you're collecting emails, you should be over 40%. If you're selling a product, depending on how targeted the traffic is, you could be at numbers like three, four, five, and sometimes upwards at 10% depending on the price point. Make sure you subscribe to this channel, leave a comment, share, and tell all your friends and colleagues about this video. If you need help with landing page templates, online or digital marketing leave a question below and I'll answer!

Nebula Iot Design Board: Creating An Example Application With Cypress WICED Studio
https://www.futureelectronics.com/p/development-tools--development-tool-hardware/neb1dx-02-future-electronics-dev-tools-5094171 Today, we’re going to unbox a Nebula board, and create an example app using Cypress’ software development environment, WICED Studio. Included inside the box is the nebula board, a user guide and a micro USB cable. On-board we have the Type 1DX module which is a combo Wi-Fi Bluetooth radio from Murata, and houses the Cypress CYW4343W chipset. To program the board, we will use WICED studio 6.1. WICED Studio is a full featured platform with turnkey hardware solutions and software development kits to enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity in a system design. http://www.cypress.com/products/wiced-software To develop an IoT application you need a few things to make the application runs smoothly. You need to consider the different technologies your system is using, an integrated environment that combines multiple technologies such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Your system needs to support the necessary IoT protocols such as http, mqtt, restful web services and AMQP. You need an integrated environment that offers connectivity to leading cloud services such as amazon web services, IBM Bluemix, Alibaba cloud and Microsoft Azure. And most importantly you need the flexibility to work with popular MCU vendors such as Cypress, ST, NXP and Atmel. WICED Studio is the only platform that provides all of these features and enables ease of use. For today’s demonstration we will need: - The nebula board - WICED Studio 6.1 - A USB cable - A laptop with Windows, Mac or Linux OS - A terminal emulator program such as Tera Term Today, we will create an application snippet that scans for nearby Wi-Fi access points. Watch the video for details For more information, and to order the Nebula board please visit us on futureelectronics.com or see your local future electronics representative.

TUTORIAL: $10,000/Month with Print On Demand (By Choosing the RIGHT Designs) - Printful Tutorial
Discover why these 3 products (shirt, pillow & shoes) made over $10,000/month... ►► FREE PRINT ON DEMAND TRAINING: http://wholesaleted.com/go/printprofits ►► FREE EBOOK: http://wholesaleted.com/4-step *THE SECRET BEHIND WINNING PRODUCTS* There’s 2 tried-and-proven ways to consistently create winning products: Targeting trends Target a SUPER-HOT niche that doesn’t have many products already. The easiest way to do this is to create your own passion niche. To do this, you cross two passion niches together. For example: crossing Pugs with coffee. It’s not enough to target one niche with PoD - you need to have a clever twist to your designs. And this is what crossing two passion niches helps you achieve. Having products that speak to customers and embody THEM in a unique way that they haven’t seen before is what motivates them to BUY. *HOW TO FIND & COPY WINNING DESIGNS* Use Shutterstock to look exclusively for illustrations (these usually look the best when printed on t-shirts). Once you’ve set that, type in one passion niche e.g. Pug Dog. It can be quite difficult to cross two niches together at once, so here’s a pro tip: look up just ONE passion niche and scroll through the art people have already made and use THAT as inspiration. Using this technique, Sarah found a cross niche of Pugs and Unicorns. Next, you need to make sure the cross-niche is in demand. To do this, use Facebook’s ad targeting tool and see whether your cross niche falls within an audience of 100,000-500,000 people. Example: Target both keywords “Pug” AND “Coffee” and see how broad the audience is. If it falls under this range, there is enough demand to create a store out of. *HOW TO ADD PRODUCTS TO YOUR STORE* After you’ve found a cross-passion niche design that have good potential to test and sell, you’ll want to add them to your store. In this tutorial, we used Printful, which is free. Here are the step-by-step instructions to do this: Step 1: Download Printful from the Shopify App Store and click “Get”. Once loaded, click the “Install App” button and create an account. Step 2: Click the “Add product” button. Select the option “Choose File” and test it using a FREE sample image as shown in the video. You don’t want to go and buy a design, only to find that it looks terrible on a shirt! Step 3: Continue by clicking on the “Proceed to mock-ups” button and double check that ALL elements of the design - especially text - are visible and not too small. Then click the “proceed to description” button. Step 4: On the next page, you can update the text that’ll appear on your product listing for it. You can change the title, description and whatever else you like. When done, click the “proceed to pricing” button. Step 5: Here, you have to two options. 1) Set each individual price for each shirt. Or 2) if you’re too lazy, you can add whatever profit margin you want on top of it - e.g. 50% profit to each sale. Whichever option you pick, click Product Collections and select the right one. To finish off, click submit to store. *HOW TO SET UP PAYMENTS* When a customer actually comes in and orders it, we need to be set up to pay Printful for the order. Here’s how to do this: Step 6: On the Printful dashboard, click the “billing” button. Next, click the “Add Payment Method” button, and then select the “Save Payment Method” button. After this loads, type in your credit card number and give your billing address. Step 7: And once you’ve done that, scroll down and click Save Payment Method, and then just be a little more patient again and let Printful load. Once it has, your payment method is all set. [EXTRA TIP] *HOW TO ADD YOUR LOGO TO THE SHIPPING SLIPS ON THE PACKAGE* This helps to build a real, actual brand for your store and encourage repeat customers! Step 8: In the settings page inside the Printful app, select “Packing Slip” from the menu. Next, click “Select Image to Upload”. Find your store logo image file and open it. After a few seconds, when completely loaded - click “Save”. But remember - if you want to build a brand and have repeat, happy customers, then it’s important that you send them an awesome product. Here are some tips to do that. #1: Upload an HD image for so that your customers will love their shirt. #2: Avoid pictures that have backgrounds #3: Remember, you can print on MORE than just shirts! Did you know that you can print onto all SORTS of products? Wine glasses, blankets, clocks, even SHOWER CURTAINS! It’s not just t-shirts that sell well with Print on Demand - so don’t be afraid to get creative! #4: Avoid getting sued and buy the RIGHT image license DON’T FORGET: You can’t just use the standard image license when purchasing images on Shutterstock to resell by printing them on products. Purchase the ENHANCED image license.

Design Example: Small Loop Antenna Matching
Printed loop antennas are inexpensive and can easily be adapted for printed circuit board (PCB) applications such as wireless car keys. Typically, the 433 MHz band is used and the antenna loop diameter is about 2-3 cm. This makes the antenna small compared to the 70 cm wavelength and thus the antenna must be carefully matched with low loss matching components. The matched small loop antenna exhibits an interesting but undesirable feature: it magnifies the small changes in the antenna impedance caused by environmental factors. This presentation discusses how to analyze and minimize this phenomenon using NI AWR Design Environment, specifically Microwave Office circuit design software and Optenni Lab matching circuit design software, to emulate loop antenna impedance variations and seek matching circuit topologies that minimize the corresponding variation of the matched impedance.
