How to Turn Milk into Stone!

02:37
How to turn milk into a hard plastic nearly as strong as stone! All we need for this simple kitchen science experiment is milk, vinegar and a strainer. You can make all kinds of shapes and designs using this "plastic-like" material. In fact, this is the stuff they used before plastic was around! Instructions: Take 1 warm cup of milk and mix with 1 tablespoon of white vinegar. Basically, for every cup of milk you use, add 1 tablespoon of vinegar and you can make a much larger batch. Mix it together and strain out the curds that form. Once you dry it you can mold it into any shape you desire, but let it dry for a couple days first! Be sure to check out out links and fanpages. 7 Survival Life Hacks That Could Save Your Life

02:17
Here are some AMAZING quick and simple life hacks in this survival edition. Enjoy! Check out AUDIBLE! http://audible.com/household 1. Need some light in a pinch and a candle alone won't cut it? Grab a soda can and cut open the sides, fold them out and place the candle in. This will reflect your light and give you some decent protection from the elements. 2. If you ever find yourself without a clean water source grab a piece of cloth and 2 containers. Put the dirty water in one container and run the cloth from it to the empty glass. After a short while, you will have filtered, muck-free water. Remember to boil.. 3. Need to get a cooking fire going with minimal effort? Grab an empty egg carton and place charcoal into the slots. Seal it up, light a corner and enjoy. 4. If the mosquitoes are getting bad you can repel them easily using common household herbs. Since you already have that little cooking fire going, sprinkle some basil or drop some rosemary on the coals. The bugs can't stand it and will stay far away. 5. How about a solar microwave? Grab a small food box and cut out a fold. Wrap the top in aluminum foil and line the inner box with it as well. Place your food inside and give it some time. You now have a solar charged grilled cheese sandwich. 6. Need to find the right direction home? Get a small sliver of metal such as a needle and rub it against your clothing several times. Place the needle on a leaf and float it in some water. The needle will point you North. 7. And finally, the emergency oil lamp. Grab some old cloth and bundle it up. Take a soda can and fill it about halfway with olive oil. Place the cloth into the can and light. You have yourself a makeshift oil lamp that will last hours.

You can pick up a Styrofoam cooler for about $4 at most stores. Dryers vents cost about $2 dollars a pop. All you need after that is an old fan and some frozen bottles of water! Once your box is completed following the instructions in the video, simply add the frozen bottles of water and go to town. My home was 78 degrees and after running the box in the living room for a couple hours it dropped into the 60's which is fantastic on a hot day! If you load the cooler with frozen bottles, the cooler will last anywhere from 3-6 hours which gives you enough time to have another set of bottles freezing in the interim. This is great for single rooms on a hot day and will drop the overall temperature quite a bit. Enjoy!

Quick & Simple April Fools Pranks

03:33
Take your pranking on April Fools’ to the next level. Let's get sneaky & clever and really mess with our friends and family this April 1st. Join our mailing list for giveaways! http://householdhacker.tv/list Here are the pranks we will be doing today: 1. Let’s start with Donuts! Get yourself a box of glazed donuts and spread them out on some paper. Take a damp paper towel and get the tops wet enough to be sticky. After that, grab some basic flour and sprinkle it all over the tops of the donuts. They will look like delicious powdered donuts not all you have to do is offer one to a friend and let the dust fly. 2. Do you know someone who likes washing their hands… geez I hope so… Grab their bar of soap and cut out a block in the bottom of it. Make sure you keep the soap shavings on the side. Now grab some kool aid or any colorful drink powder and dump it in the gap. Carefully mold the soap shavings over the hole and form a good seal around the powder. Once it’s solid, put it under the water and rub the soap until you get the surface nice and smooth like it was in the beginning. After a few hand washes, the thin layer will burst giving way to bloody murder. 3. Grab a roommate’s shampoo bottle and get some syran wrap. Open up the cap and secure a small layer over the opening. Seal it back up and wait. Next time they go to use their shampoo, nothing will come out even though the bottle might feel full. 4. Alright… It’s chowder time. Some people love canned fruit. Snatch a can of theirs and flip it over to open it from the bottom. Then empty out the contents into a bowl to eat later. Now get another can of something they hate… in this case… clam chowder. Empty it into the fruit can and then bust out a bit of super glue. Put a seal around the the lid and secure it back into place. When your victim goes into get their delicious peaches, they’re going to find that they are CHOWDA this world. 5. Here’s a fun but harmless prank to pull on your friends who often leave their phone laying around. Next time they go away for a bit and leave their phone near you, get your hands on some rubber bands… might want to plan ahead and have them on you. Now wrap their phone over and over and over until the entire thing is encapsulated by a rubber band force field. Next sneak off and call their phone. Now stay hidden and smirk with wicked satisfaction as they attempt to answer it. 6. Time to get MAYO-RIFFIC! Get a hold of a friend’s hand lotion and empty it out completely into another container. Once empty, grab a bottle of mayonnaise and carefully squirt or load it into the empty lotion bottle. It doesn’t need to be filled all the way but get enough in there to prevent suspicion. When they go to use the lotion for WHATEVER reason. They get to celebrate Cinco de MAYO instead. 7. Now what to do with that empty bottle of mayo… Hmmm… In my case, I got served with a dose of revenge. Grab the empty bottle and fill it up with vanilla pudding. Spooning it in shouldn’t be a problem, just take your time. Once full, close it off and wait for your victim to make a sandwich. After just one bite they will quickly realize something just isn’t right… ugh this was nasty… 8. And finally, nothing is more juvenile and fun than the appearance of errant feces. Find a pair of white underwear no one needs anymore. Place it down on a counter and get yourself some chocolate syrup or pudding. Pop it open and spread it all over the garment… Rub it all together and take a look at your masterful creation…. Mmmmmm NOW THAT’S POOPY! Take it into the bathroom and drop it on or around the toilet. The next person to walk in might think twice. This is also a great way to secure the bathroom all for yourself. -Social Media- Facebook: http://facebook.com/HackThePlanet Twitter: http://twitter.com/HouseholdHacker

DIY Custom Drink Coasters!

02:26
Tired of boring drink coasters? Let's design our own with just a few simple supplies. You will need a picture, some tiles, mod podge, felt and a brush! Email List Signup: http://householdhacker.tv/list Full Instructions: To pull this off we need a few basic items… a cutting board or scissors… Some mod lodge glue and sealant. a brush, some ceramic tiles and some felt. If you want a custom design print out a couple color pictures but leave enough room for about 4 and a half inches each. A standard piece of paper can hold a couple of these. We are using a standard 4x4 ceramic tile. These can be purchased at the hardware store for about 18 cents each! Print out your design and lets cut it up! You want to make a square that is 4 and 1/8th inches on all sides. Once you cut it up place it on the tile to make sure the measurements were correct. You want a little bit of white as a border. Now grab some mod lodge and apply a thin coat directly on to the tile. In a pinch you could use elmers glue but the top layer will not be as clean and good looking. At this point it’s good to mention that you don’t have to print anything, you can cut logos or pictures out of a magazine or old book to make your awesome coasters however you want… just follow the same process as before. Once the image is centered and secured into place. Apply a first top coat to the picture. Go slowly and steady here to avoid bubbles in the paper. Make a nice thin and straight layer and then give it at least 10 minutes to dry. After you have applied about 3 layers, you should have a nice water proof and flush looking coaster. It’s time to pad the bottom with felt to finish up the project. Get your felt out which can be purchased at any art store and cut it to the same size at the paper… That’s 4 1/8 inches on all sides. Now apply another thin layer of mod lodge or glue to the bottom and carefully place the felt into position. And that’s it! Once this process is completed, let everything dry for about an hour and they are ready for use! These things make great gifts for anyone.

SODA TO THE RESCUE! Pour a healthy dose of pop all over the caked on gum. Let it sit and simmer for a few minutes so it can work it’s magic. Now simple pry off the gunk and scrap off any remaining particulate. Fresh Flowers Fresh flowers can really liven up your house or patio… The problem is, water alone won’t sustain them for long. They need soda… it’s the stuff that flowers crave! (mostly sugar). Pull the flowers and dump the water. Now mix 1 part water with 1 part soda… the clearer the better. Pour it in the vase and your flowers will stay fresh and alive even longer. Car Gunk Remover Got a nasty spot on your car that you can’t seem to remove? Enter the magic of soda… Pour a liberal dose on to the offending area and scrub away all your frustration in one fell swoop. Just let it sit for a minute or two and then rub it all away with a paper towel. Be sure to pour some water over it after so it isn’t sticky! Wasp Trap Pesky insects like bees and wasps can ruin your outdoors fun. Grab an empty plastic bottle of soda, and cut off the upper portion with a fine blade. Be extremely careful here and don’t cut yourself! once done, fill the base with a little soda and flip the top portion over. Just place the contraption away from where you will be sitting and the soda will attract the critters and once they go into the hole there is no coming back. Problem solved! SODA ICE Did you soda go flat? Don’t throw it out just yet, we can still get some use out of it. Let’s make Soda ice! Take your flat soda and fill up your ice cube tray. Toss it in the freezer for a few hours and next time you go for a delicious beverage, drop in the soda ice. This will stop your drink from getting watered down but still keep things nice and cool with all the flavor. Can Lantern Now what if the power went out and all you have are some tiny candles for light. You can use the reflective aluminum of a soda can to help you through the darkness. Simply cut several slits in the side of a can. Again be very careful here! Once you are done, lowly pop out the side and press down on the can. Place a candle inside and light it up. You just MacGyver’ed yourself a lantern. Clean Your Toilet Need to clean your toilet but don’t want to get your hands dirty? Ahhhh! MOTHER OF ALL THAT’S HOLY! … Whew.. ok.. grab a can of soda and pour it all around the bowl. Cover everything that looks suspect and close the lid. Now wait 1 hour, light a candle and maybe even whisper a prayer to your deity... the soda’s citric acid is gonna go to work for you. If you wait long enough you should come back to a fairly pristine looking bowl. It’s just like magic! Or SODA SCIENCE.
