I'm in Debt up to my eyeballs from being a Beauty Guru/Fashion Blogger. That's the real tea, unglamourous truth. Constant Hauls, and trying to compete or even just trying to not get left behind, I allowed myself to buy more than I needed and now I'm swimming in the excess. This filled my home up with stuff, but left my soul very sad and empty. Over the last year, it's reached a fever pitch, and became unsustainable for me. I don't like what the community that I helped create has become. I considered quitting, but there's still so much I love about making videos, and there just has to be a new way to do this. I started thinking about my roots, and how to get back to them. In October, I decided I was getting off the rat race, and from now on would do my own thing. I needed time off, and I took it. That scared the living daylights out of me. A little bit of me was scared that I wouldn't be able to come back. I brainstormed how I could keep going, and still make money doing YT, because even though it isn't perfect, it's a great job for my lifestyle and temperament. I've got that "Bubbie energy", I want to help, nurture and teach. What I've realized is I can't go back to non-stop hauls, and hawking product for someone else's gain, while barely keeping myself afloat because I'm buying things I don't need, trying to sell YOU things YOU don't need. It's scary to acknowledge this. I've tried to project strength and keep of the appearance of keeping up with the Jones. But Real talk: I can't afford it, and I wouldn't want it if I could.
I'm here, telling you guys the uncomfortable truth, but with a happy twist: All those clothes and new makeup stuff I don't need? I'm selling them! And we'll have even better content from here on out! I'm not saying I'll never do another haul again, that's not realistic. But what I will do, is more sustainable hauls, promote secondhand clothing, and makeup worth your coins.
