Green Monster Trail Challenge 50k

07:34
The Green Monster is a challenging mountain race near Wellsboro in Tioga County PA. The event includes a 15k, 25k, and a 50k. This year I put myself through the 50k course for the second time. This is a 'must do' race for anybody who loves to run and hike in the Eastern USA. This year the event attracted participants from 14 states and Australia, a finish line wedding proposal, free local grub and craft beer.... The 50k boasts nearly 8,000ft of vertical gain, steep grades, tricky creek crossings, all under a canopy of autumn colors. The 25k contains most of the toughest terrain of the day, while the 15k hits the highlights of the area even as it lowers the distance. A combined 400 people finished one of the three events in 2016. Be sure to put it on your calendar for next year. The race is always on a Sunday during the first half of October. Batman Triumphant: Schumacher's Unfinished Batman Film

06:51
Batman Unchained (often referred to as Batman Triumphant) was the planned sequel to Batman & Robin. The script was written by Mark Protosevich and Joel Schumacher was signed to direct it. It was cancelled after the negative reception of Batman & Robin. Some themes from this script were later used in Batman Begins. During the filming of Batman & Robin, Warner Bros. was impressed with the dailies. This prompted them to immediately hire Joel Schumacher to return as director for a sequel, but writer Akiva Goldsman, who worked on Batman Forever and Batman & Robin with Schumacher, turned down the chance to write the script. In late 1996, Warner Bros. and Schumacher hired Mark Protosevich to write the script for a fifth Batman film. A projected mid-1999 release date was announced. Titled Batman Unchained, Protosevich's script had the Scarecrow as the main villain and it would bring back the franchise in a more serious and darker direction, unlike the previous two films. The script dealt with Batman learning to conquer fear and to confront the demons of his past. The Joker would return as a hallucination in Batman's mind caused by the Scarecrow's fear toxin, along with The Penguin, Catwoman, Two-Face and The Riddler, all together to judge the hero on trial. Harley Quinn appeared as a toymaker, written as the Joker's daughter trying to get revenge on Batman for the Joker's death. Crane discovers Batman's identity and forms an alliance with Harley to lead him to madness and lock him in Arkham Asylum. In the script, Robin abandons Batman for disagreements, but he returns during the final battle to help his mentor. After defeating his enemies and his demons, Bruce makes a trip to Bali and enters a cave full of bats, with them flying around him, as a proof for having conquered his fears. George Clooney and Chris O'Donnell were set to reprise the roles of Batman and Robin, respectively. Schumacher offered the part of the Scarecrow to Nicolas Cage while filming Face/Off and Courtney Love was proposed for the role of Harley. However, when Batman & Robin received negative reviews and failed to outgross any of its predecessors, the idea was to bring Tim Drake in the Bat picture but Warner Bros. was unsure of their plans for Batman Unchained and George Clooney vowed never to wear the cape and cowl again. Director of the previous two films Joel Schumacher stated in a documentary that he turned down the chance to return stating that he lost his "passion" for Batman in film and didn't want to turn the passion into just a job. The studio decided it was best to consider a live-action Batman Beyond film and an adaptation of Frank Miller's Batman: Year One. Warner Bros. would then greenlight whichever idea suited them the most. Schumacher felt he "owe[d] the Batman culture a real Batman movie. I would go back to the basics and make a dark portrayal of the Dark Knight". He approached Warner Bros. of doing Batman: Year One in mid-1998. MORE JUSTICE CAST: http://thejusticecast.podbean.com/

Worlds End Fall Classic (2016)

06:43
13.2 miles, 3,200ft of vertical on rugged Pennsylvania single track centered around Worlds End State Park. What's not to like? In the early Summer this park/state forest plays host to the World's End Ultramarathon 50k/100k, two spectacular events put on by the same great people. With rain (that never materialized) in the forecast, I left my stabilizer home, but I hope this video still gives you a good idea of what this rugged race is all about. Put it on your calendar for next autumn. The 'lady in black' featured heavily in this video is Tracy Wright, the 'Man in Gray' is Josh 'The Beard' Sitas. The New Jedi Order Discussion

01:02:43
Part 7 of our series on STAR WARS BOOKS and the EU is all about the MEGA-SERIES! Yes the New Jedi Order, Legacy of the Force, and Fate of the Jedi all are focused on here! Did we enjoy them? Did you enjoy them? What were our favorite books or aspects of them? Are we happy with the direction the story went post Hand of Thrawn Duology? What do we think of Darth Caedus the Vong and more? Part 7 is a massive episode for a massive set of series! Star Wars: The New Jedi Order (or New Jedi Order or NJO) is a series of nineteen science fiction novels, published from 1999 to 2003, set in the Star Wars expanded universe. The series revolves around the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy 21–26 years after the events depicted in Return of the Jedi. The New Jedi Order was the restored and reformed Jedi organization, in the wake of the Great Jedi Purge and subsequent fall of the Galactic Empire. The Jedi Knights, reduced in number to only a handful, were slowly restored, primarily under the leadership of Luke Skywalker. Additional stories, generally published as e-book novellas (some published as recently as 2006) and comic books (as recent as 2010/2011), take the total number of published NJO-related stories to twenty-six. The series begins twenty-one years after the Rebel Alliance destroyed the second Death Star. The New Republic is facing internal conflict while trying to maintain peace. A new, powerful enemy, known as the Yuuzhan Vong, emerges from the outer galaxy, beginning what will be known as the Yuuzhan Vong invasion. The Jedi, along with the New Republic, struggle to resist this new alien race while it steadily pushes forward, annihilating or occupying different parts of the galaxy Contact the show: [email protected] Podcast: http://thegungancouncil.podbean.com/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BombadRadio/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/BombadRadio

BEER PORN #177: STBC Concord Grape Gose Imperial Sour

08:17
"The brewery is located just a short drive over the Chautauqua Ridge from Lake Erie, arguably the most ideal Concord grape growing region in the world. So, it made sense for us to brew a beer with the juice of these classic grapes. The finished beer is a slightly cloudy, deep reddish purple color with a persistent white head, and durable lacing thanks to a large portion of wheat in the grist. The nose is defined by equal parts bright lactic acidity and grape aroma with a hint of coriander. On the palate, the strong lacto acidity is balanced by the natural sweetness of the Concord grapes: http://www.stbcbeer.com/beer/imperial-concord-grape-gose/ " Please take a moment to subscribe to my channel. Superman Flyby: JJ Abrams' Cancelled 2002 Film

09:14
Superman Flyby was Warner Bros 2002 attempt to bring back Superman to the big screen. The film was written by then, very young JJ Abrams, and was to be directed by Charlie's Angels/Terminator Salvation director McG. Here is what they had planned: Superman: Flyby is the title of a Superman film which was never filmed. It was in production until it was scrapped, along with several other Superman movie ideas on a seemingly endless Superman movie project, which eventually became Superman Returns. The movie would have reinvented Superman. It would have included new Kryptonian villains, such as Ty-Zor. Also, in this movie, the planet Krypton would still exist. BEER PORN: Cold Press Coffee Pumking

07:21
"Cold press coffee is a lengthy process, but it results in a smooth coffee flavor with nutty, cocoa & chocolatey notes. Add these scrumptious tones to Pumking’s biscuity, pumpkin pie spices & you’ve got something extra special for fall. The cold brew process creates a perfectly balanced & distinctively smooth coffee taste. Many coffee beers are made using beans on the hot side- but not ours. A cold brew leaves behind the bitter acids and some fatty oils that can lead to a harsher, more vegetal taste transfer, and instead, highlights the roasted, comfortable coffee taste we all love. This, paired with the perfect pumpkin pie spice in our imperial Pumking ale creates the entire picture in just one sniff and sip. Cold Press Coffee Process: A roasted coffee bean contains many compounds that are extracted when it comes in contact with heated water (or wort in this case). Some of those compounds, including certain oils & fatty acids, are soluble only at a high temperature. During the cold brew process, coffee beans are never exposed to high temperature. At only 30 IBU, cold press brewing extracts the delicious flavor compounds (& some of the caffeine) from coffee beans, but leaves behind myriad bitter oils and biting fatty acids. These are the same bitter acids & fatty oils that surface to the top of a hot cup of coffee, and give hot-brewed coffee that familiar ‘bite’, thus the reason people attempt to soften the acidic taste with cream in their coffee." BEER PORN #122: Cinnamon Roll Imperial Ale

06:51
Written Review: http://www.briankunkle.com/2017/11/cinnamon-roll-imperial-ale.html "The scent of our brewery on brew days is irresistible. Akin to the morning’s first brewed batch of perfectly roasted coffee, the aromas envelope you and cause the corners of your lips to curl into the slightest unconscious smile. In this brew, lightly toasted malts with subtly spicy hops blend into cinnamon flavors and creamy lactose sugar. Their coalescence is so uncannily close to fresh baked cinnamon rolls that it was impossible to name this beer anything other than Cinnamon Roll Imperial Ale! Pairs perfectly with eggs benedict at brunch, after dinner, or next to the fire for an unforgettable nightcap." Please take a moment to subscribe to my channel. Terry Goodkind: Shroud of Eternity (Review): Hey folks, as promised my review of the latest book in fantasy author Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth universe, book two of The Nicci Chronicles. This book is an improvement over the previous volume, Death's Mistress (review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6gxPkcrSVY&t=11s ), however still struggles with a number of flaws. BEREN AND LUTHIEN REVIEW

07:33
In this video I attempt to share my thoughts on the latest JRR Tolkien book - Beren and Luthien - edited by his 93 year old third son Christopher Tolkien. I was hoping for something more like Children of Hurin, expanded from the shorter version found in The Silmarillion which would give me another Tolkien novel to read yearly as I do The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. What Christopher has edited, instead is more like the History of Middle-earth series which chronicle the evolution of the story through the process of its creation many decades ago. The Tale of Beren and Lúthien, told in several works by J. R. R. Tolkien, is the story of the love and adventures of the mortal Man Beren and the immortal Elf-maiden Lúthien. (Early versions of the story, published in the standalone book in 2017, described Beren as a Noldorin elf.) Tolkien wrote several versions of their story, the latest in The Silmarillion, and the tale is also mentioned in The Lord of the Rings. The story takes place during the First Age of Middle-earth, about 6500 years[2] before the events of The Lord of the Rings. Beren, son of Barahir, cut a Silmaril from Morgoth's crown as the bride-price for Lúthien, daughter of the elf-king Thingol and Melian the Maia. He was slain by Carcharoth, the wolf of Angband, but alone of mortal Men returned from the dead. He lived then with Lúthien on Tol Galen in Ossiriand, and fought the Dwarves at Sarn Athard. He was the great-grandfather of Elrond and Elros, and thus the ancestor of the Númenórean kings. After the fulfilment of the quest of the Silmaril and Beren's death, Lúthien chose to become mortal and to share Beren's fate Please take a moment to subscribe to my channel. SENECA LAKE CRUISE

08:33
August 31st, 2017 evening cruise on Seneca Lake (Watkins Glen NY) aboard 'The Legacy.' The water was choppy and the air cool as we powered into a headwind on the way out. Things calmed down on the way back to work with the tail wind pushing home. Live music on board, buffet style dining, and a selection of Finger Lakes wines as well as a few local craft beers (I had a couple Ithaca Brewing Company Green Trail IPA's) Being the end of the season and a chilly evening attendance was a low, but that was all the better for being able to move about the ship and enjoy the views. The other passengers were fun and entertaining, especially after a few drinks....so pay close attention or the spontaneous Garth Brooks sing along mid video! Filmed on my Canon G7X so as to not have to lug around the Canon 80D, so please excuse the wind interference. Should Batman Forever get a director’s cut?

10:21
1995's Batman Forever is rather infamous for what it started vs the Batman Film it actually released. It began the Joel Schumacher era of Batman which ended with the dreadful Batman and Robin. Batman Forever, was it as bad as some seem to think? This host thinks that not only should it be given another chance but could become even better, if given the directors cut treatment like Batman v Superman has. Do you agree? Disagree? Sound off in the comments! Listen to More Justice Cast: http://thejusticecast.podbean.com/

BEER PORN #110: Stone Mocha IPA

05:56
Clearly, style lines have been crossed. Is it half-IPA, half-stout? Not quite. It’s definitely all IPA, but it’s also the best of both styles, making this love child of a beer simply just a beautiful, pleasure-seeking meld of imperial IPA and mocha indulgence. How did we come up with this inexplicably delicious creation? Well, that doesn’t really matter. What matters is that it exists and that it’s here for you now, thanks to our deliberate disregard for brewing norms. Some things are not meant to be known, just enjoyed...thoroughly.
